There was a time, not too long ago, that anybody who graduated high school had all the requisite knowledge and skill to actually do almost any job, even start and run their own business, like Microsoft.

This is just stupid. There are still kids fresh out of high school with the ability to start their own companies. There are kids who haven't even finished high school who are taking masters-level courses (I am friends with one). Making the assertion that anyone is capable of starting and continuing a successful business just because they had one thing in common with Bill Gates doesn't mean they had everything else necessary to be as successful as Bill Gates.

Some kids have the knowledge and ability. Most didn't care enough to develop those skills, instead relying on sports or the promise of the benefits of post-sec education or maybe not even relying on anything to help them along, just coasting through because they don't see the benefits.

I *am* an iPhone 3G (not S) owner (Meaning: owner). I've always kept up on the updates to the OS, and I've never had any problems with any version slowing my phone down or causing instability or other problems (except that one time when Facebook decided to crash every time I loaded the app, so I visited the mobile website in Safari instead). It stopped updating at 4.2, but whatever. I can't install anything newer than that (and I mean it doesn't LET me), so I have to wonder, who are these people who installed iOS 5 and iOS 6 on their iPhone 3G? My buddy with a 3GS got those, but I didn't.

If you're going to be on about how acronym pronunciation does or doesn't work, then "GIF" would never be a word. When reading the written text, you always pronounce the elongated form of the acronym. "The GIF file is in the FS on the HDD" should be orated as "The Graphics Interchange Format file is in the File System on the Hard Disk Drive."

Strictly speaking, we aren't talking about pronouncing an acronym; we're talking about pronouncing a new word derived from an acronym in which case you would be right to claim pronounciation is different from the etymology.

Or is this too pedantic?

Working in a restaurant located in a business hub, I see two or three blue-tooth headsets each day. Sure, maybe not a lot by your standards, but it's significant that these are the people who forget that they're wearing them meaning many more probably use them regularly.

I use one, myself, because I'm never just talking on the phone. If I'm driving and a phone call comes in, I can't be holding the phone to my head. I don't often play games that can be paused so I can't stop just to answer the phone at the drop of a hat. While I'm walking around not doing anything else, sure, I could probably just hold the phone up to my head, but I already have a bluetooth earpiece. Why would I not want to use it?

On the topic of how often any of these come up, very rarely. My last phone bill had 6 minutes of airtime used for the month. Still, I've had the earpiece for over a year and the convenience for the above-listed situations makes it more than worth the $40 I paid for it.

I've never had a problem with an update being forced on me. Neither XBox360, nor PS3, Nor Wii has ever pushed it beyond saying "There's an update. Do you want it?"

You can always refuse to update. So you lose the ability to play online. Get over it. If you're modding your console, the only place you deserve to keep it is offline.
