Like magic out of a Harry Potter novel, such a metal could contract on command, or swing back and forth like a pendulum. Believe it or not, such metals already exist. First discovered in 1931, they belong to a class of materials called 'shape memory alloys (SMA),' whose unique atomic make-up allows them to return to their initial form, or alternate between forms through a phase change."

Steam Not Coming To Linux 520

dkd903 writes "A rumor has been going around for about four months that Valve was working on a Linux version of Steam and this had a lot of people in the Linux community very excited. But, Valve has now officially killed the rumor. And it is not what people wants to hear – there is no Linux version of Steam in development. Doug Lombardi, the Marketing VP of Valve Corporation, in an interview, has put an end to all the rumors by saying that they are not working on Steam for Linux right now."

Stoobalou writes: Kid-friendly Canadian crooner Justin Bieber got his own back on a hacker who posted his phone number online by reciprocating.

On Saturday night Bieber stuck up a tweet that read “Everyone call me... or text” appending a mobile phone number that wasn't his, but belonged a bloke called Kevin Kristopik, who apparently got hold of Bieber's number by breaking into the Twitter account of one of his chums.
