" Not true, every time I'm forgetful and late to feed my dog her supper she judges me to have been neglectful in my duty and makes her point of view quite clear by sitting and staring at me while repeatedly nudging me with her nose in an attempt to get my attention. As far as I can tell, shes not human and is judging my actions to be wrong.

"Atheism states that there is no higher power in the world."

It doesnt even do that. All that being an atheist requires is a lack of belief in god(s). Any further implications of this lack of belief vary between individuals. Many atheists share a pro scientific humanist philosophy (and perhaps you could consider humanism a religion) but that does not mean we all share a common belief in the goodness of humanity, or that all atheists think that the scientific method is a good form of inquiry.

That has nothing to do with net neutrality. All ISPs need to do is implement bandwidth caps like cell phone data plans already do and charge extra for exceeding the caps. The only reason they don't do this is because those bandwidth "hogs" are costing them less than they would lose by no longer being able to advertise their cheapest plans as unlimited.

I doubt Toronto would have even been considered as an option at the time. The previous capital was Kingston, which being on the shores of Lake Ontario was vulnerable to any attempts American invasions (the main reason the capital was moved). Toronto also being on Lake Ontario would have shared the same weakness and been ruled out accordingly.

It irritates me that "racist morons" can claim an entirely valid form of social commentary as their own and forever prevent a normal person from using similar devices to ridicule anyone with a certain ethnicity. There are a lot of reasons to compare people to monkeys while ridiculing them without their skin colour being at all relaxant.

The way I see it even though you aren't consciously thinking of the number of drum beats as they pass by, you are still perceiving that number of beats and keeping track of it somewhere in your sub conscious. You may not use the same system to count, but I would argue that any method which is used to keep track of an incrementally increasing value even when not specifically defined as a number is a form of counting.

Music is probably the most common form of sub conscious counting we have, what is counting if not pattern recognition? When counting a series of number all you're really doing is keeping track of your position in an already recognized pattern and then continuing that pattern when you reach a number you have never used before. The same thing happens when you repeat a song that you know from memory, keeping your position in the music-space of a song is akin to keeping your position in given number space while counting. Were just aware of it in different ways.

Back on topic, I don't the ants are consciously thinking one... two ... three in their minds as they walk (I doubt they have a stream of consciousness to the same degree that we do) but that doesn't mean they don't have some instinctive ability to keep track of their progress through a pattern. If it effectively does the same thing as counting then we might as well call it the same thing.
