Submission + - What if GMail were down?

krico writes: "I (like many others) have my own domain setup to use google's e-mail system. I have just spend 10 minutes trying to get some kind of an answer from http://mail.google.com/ with no success. That's when I started wondering what would happen if GMail went down for a while?"

Submission + - kerne.org load too high?

krico writes: "I have been trying to connect to kernel.org's ftp site since yesterday and it is very slow. Maybe the hardware is not able to handle the load?"

Submission + - Is linux on Intel Core 2 Duo 64 bits ready?

krico writes: "I recently acquired a Dell XPS M1710 notebook powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I had an "old" netinst CD of Debian i386 so I went for it, downloaded the NVIDIA driver for x86 and lived happily ever after.
A week later a friend of mine explained to me (I was not the only one that didn't know that ) that the Intel Core 2 Duo does 64 bit and is therefore compatible with the amd64 version of Debian.
Of course I immediately downloaded Debian amd64 netinst and installed that version, downloaded the 64 bit version of the NVIDIA driver and thought I would live happily ever after again. Sadly after a few minutes my X.org server started to become slower and slower until it froze. I won't give you all the gory details on how I tried to fix the problem, but at the end I decided to go back to the i386 Debian version. Maybe after 2.6.19 kernel, I should try again?"
