The Android and WinPhone8 fanboys lose their minds online. Servers explode. Anarchy.

You realize that for dads to get maternity leave, they would have to be mothers, right?

There is real benefit to the child and parent for bonding with the baby during the early months (and years). Why bother to have a child if you're so eager to get back to work and not spend time with it? I get that you're pouring on the sarcasm (I'm reaaaallly hoping you are) but why not have a few well adjusted happy kids and parents to try to balance out all the unwanted/neglected wards of the state?

She realized that NO mom can really get much work done when constantly tired, permanently attached to said baby via the boob, or dealing with colic. So, may as well have the moms get some paid time off instead of pretending to do work and getting paid anyway. Makes sense to me. Dads are still getting the raw deal, but they may welcome the relief.

I believe that is referring to the maximum capacity of the diaper, not the age of the child. Or have I been wrong all these years?

I'd love to check one out. But I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for something based on some greasy tech blog reviews and a few press shots. As there's no MS store within 2 hours of me, there's very little chance I'll be able to buy one. HOWEVER, if MS could put these on the shelves at Best Buy, FutureShop (I'm in Canada, eh) or London Drugs, I'd happily fondle it and maybe even buy it.

Also...while I'm sure MS would love to sell a bajillion of them, I understand these were developed as a way for MS to show it's hardware partners a thing or two about product design or something. I doubt they expected the RT models especially to fly off the shelves.

My wife really wants a Surface Pro, however, and what she wants she usually gets.

You'd be surprised to learn what actual Hollywood props are made of. Also, "What a piece of junk!"

Neckbeards the world over will never stop bitching and complaining about Microsoft, no matter what they do or don't do.

The interface isn't really all that different. There are changes, but the core desktop experience is there. The Metro/whatever it's called UI is definitely different - and designed to be touch friendly where the desktop isn't.

Take a deep breath, relax and commit to a few minutes of poking around Win 8 with an open mind and you'll quickly be just as productive as before. Learning new things in IT is job security. Resisting change is a great way to be out of a job.

Finally, a computer IS a toy for a three-year-old. It is for mine. It's also a tool to get work done. I'm sure MS is well aware of these facts, which is why they have created MS Office in the first place. My three-year-old hasn't gone there just yet though.
