Dasher42 writes: Word is out today in the LA Times that hours before the initial explosion on the Deepwater Horizon on April 20th, there was an altercation between BP's officials and the rig's mechanical engineers. The officials wanted to use a high-risk procedure to rush the job, since they were over budget, and ignored objections from the staff and a slew of warning signs.
Apparently, the managers won that argument, and cut their headcount too.
