It IS spyware exactly how we've seen it in windows for ages. It's default-on which makes it no better than all the spyware that comes packaged with software. If it was default-off and asked at first boot/during install/whatever if it could be enabled I would have no issue.

The way it presently is setup is just dirty like all spyware.

Linode all the way, they're aren't kvm but you can run a custom kernel. Their control panel is absolutely top notch.

I've had vps on linode, amazon, some openvz crap server, godaddy, rackspace, and slicehost. Linode is the one i would recommend.

... the UI. Which is partially stored server side and manipulated only serverside, which causes major lag for ANYTHING using the UI.

The combat I enjoy (it's far slower paced than say wow or eq2 though), the crafting is ok, the class system I really like, etc... but the UI is just hideous, it's designed for a controller and using one alleviates 50% of the issues... but not the lag. Until they can fix the lag (and the only fix is moving the ui clientside completely... which I doubt they're willing to do.) there are going to be no good reviews, the ui is so bad it overshadows EVERYTHING.

The slower combat and old school style are definitely not for everyone, but the UI pushes it towards "not for anyone."

Prolonged Gaming Blamed For Rickets Rise Screenshot-sm 254

superapecommando writes "Too many hours spent playing videogames indoors is contributing to a rise in rickets, according to a new study by doctors. Professor Simon Pearce and Dr Tim Cheetham of Newcastle University have written a paper in the British Medical Journal which warns of the rickets uptake – a disease which sufferers get when deficient in Vitamin D. The study boils down to the fact that as more people play videogames indoors they don't get enough sunlight and this has meant the hospitals are now having to combat a disease that was last in the papers around the time Queen Victoria was on the throne." At least the kids are eating enough snacks with iodized salt that we don't have to worry about goiters.

The simple reality is: most people who pirate aren't going to buy anyways. It's not a loss if someone downloads your content and tinkers with it 5m and then never touches it again and that is what happens with *a lot* of content. Nor is it a loss if someone downloads your content (because they can't afford it) and likes it and 5 of their friends go out and buy it even though the original person never does.

The iPhone or a smart phone of some sort is just the beginning of a wearable pc, it's a component in the mess. Bluetooth and other wireless technologies need to further develop and better batteries. No component except the central unit should be bigger than a bluetooth headset. Until they get that far its never going to catch on.

We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first reasonable wearable computer.
