Unless the model plane is the size of a 747 or the explosive is anit-matter, how is that a "... state-threatening act of violence." Is Germany in such dire straits that a single model aircraft can topple a whole country?

Exactly what I though when I first read TFS. I mean seriously, a bomb-laden RC plane couldn't take out a random balcony. They'd be better off strapping C-4 to a bunch of swallows (European, of course).

Use your skills (or learn new skills) to help people who can't pay you back. I am a volunteer firefighter/EMT and the biggest joy is when the frail old lady you just helped thanks you. I'm sure you can find a number of places where you can make a difference.

Absolutely...MOD UP!!! I've been an EMT, and I completely agree with this. I love IT, but if I could be an EMT full-time without having to worry about making money, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

THIS. Why does this guy seem to end up as an "expert" in so many of these patent-related articles? The guy's an idiot and has been downright wrong so many times it's laughable. /., please let us filter out any articles with the word "Florian" in it. It would at least give me back a few minutes of my life every month.

No offense AC, but there is an element of "stupid" to doing this. How are you going to fix it if it breaks, and more importantly, what will it cost? Also, the same thing could very likely be done with off the shelf commodity hardware and some cheap (or free) accounting software. Accounting productivity would be DRAMATICALLY increased just in the amount of time saved each day. Sounds to me like someone in that company is lacking some serious business sense. Punched cards had their day, but that day is long gone.

My credit union offers two factor authentication. Could a Bitcoin exchange do the same? You bet. But they haven't. The fact is that it's easier to find legit and robust exchanges and institutions in USD than BitCoin.

I believe you're correct in that the exchanges don't use two factor authentication. However, my Bitcoin wallet is an online one (yeah, not so secure, but I only do a little bit of mining...less than $50 in there right now) that definitely does use two factor authentication through the Authy app. Quite simple really, and the exchanges should definitely use something like this.

A lot of people I know are using their personal smartphones for work, including me. Check on a server, bring up an app. Check out the WiFi, bring up another app. I have tons of apps on my personal phone that have saved countless hours diagnosing issues

Fact is, an awful lot of employers should be kissing our asses for using our own personal devices to be more productive at work.
