Yeah, it most likely is a regional thing. In Denmark (and i believe it similar in the rest of the nordic countries) we refer to it as Ecological, or in danish Økologisk. Often these products are then prefixed with Øko in normal conversation, but it is similar til ot he german use of Bio, or indeed "organic" products from english speaking countries.
