Submission + - Dedicated controller for 3D panning?

crazygamerz writes: I have recently purchased a cheap, brandless trackball mouse from ebay and would like to use it as a dedicated controller for panning and zooming in 3D environments such as games, Google Earth, Maya, etc. However, Windows by default only recognizes this device as an additional mouse and I could not figure out a way to make the two mouses function independently for different purposes. I have searched the whole internet but could not find any similar projects. Is this doable? What are the steps that I need to follow?
