I'm a 50yro woman and I have an iPhone. My 3rd one as a matter of fact.

1st one was a 1st gen that my son gave me.
I promptly jailbroke and unlocked it for use on a non-AT&T system, on my on, without help from anyone.

My BFF dropped it and broke the screen so I bought another just like it on ebay.
I also jailbroke and unlocked that one and installed *anything* I wanted on it.

About 6 months ago I bought a one month old 3gs on ebay and retired the previous iPhone to use as a remote control for my home theater.
The new one, I jailbroke and unlocked it as well, just like the others before it.

For now, I am sitting with 3.1.3 on it, I'm doing my homework before I bump it up to 4.2.x. 3.1.3 is working fine for me and I'm in no big rush, I have other things to do that are much more important.

I love my iPhone. It's easy to use and easy to hack. I can put anything I want on it, do anything I want with it, use it in any way I wish.
And I totally love my winterboard Tinkerbell theme.. My friends are all jealous.. :-)

The droid stuff? I don't trust it, I don't trust google. But then again, I don't trust Apple much either.
Apple makes some great products but their garden wall policies are draconian.

To the person who controls what his wife uses, how about you let her decide what she wants and then help her learn to take control of it so you don't have to "support her". How about you empower her with knowledge and give her freedom to make her own decisions and purchases?

I call them United Package Smashers.

EVERYTHING I ever get shipped to me via UPS comes in with the box smashed and torn.
I'm amazed that anything survives the abuse they dish out on packages.
And this time of year they use those golf cart ATV thingies with trailers to deliver. All the packages are towed around for miles with no tarps over them to protect them from the weather or to keep something from bouncing out of the little trailers they tow behind. I do NOT approve.

I hate them.

USPS gets things to me in much better shape but their tracking system SUCKS. You can NOT track the progress of a package, they do not update until it's on your porch.
Worst tracking system of all.

Fed-ex is not bad, no real complaints with them. Decent tracking and stuff comes in in better shape than UPS.

DHL, I dont' like how they farm it out to some joker in a rental van. I don't trust that.

Sweeeeeet! Thank you!

My iPhone is jailbroken and unlocked.

When I got my first one, I was a loooong time Centennial Wireless customer and was very happy with their service. Very happy.
My son bought a new iPhone and gave me his 1st gen which I promptly popped my OLD Centennial SIM into (I had an old Nokia) then unlocked and jail broke it to work on Centennial. It worked like a charm though I had no wireless internet, never had it on the Nokia, never wanted it on the Nokia, it was too basic.
So I had internet in my house, McDonalds, etc.. Good enough for me.

My BFF dropped it and broke it though and I bought another one just like it and repeated it all over again. Everything still cool.

Then I got tired of the slowness of the 1st gen and bought a used 3GS in like new condition on ebay. Again, I jailbroke it and unlocked it with Spirit.
Still using the old Centennial / Nokia SIM. And still, no internet except via WIFI. Fine with me.

See, I have an awesome plan that they grandfathered me in on when AT&T (SUCKS) bought Centennial. For $29 a month I get 200 minutes a month outgoing and unlimited 24/7 incoming minutes. People can call and talk to me 24 hours a day and it doesn't cost me a cent. Why would I want to change that?

If I fess up to them that I have an iPhone they will force me into a new $100 a month plan that I do not want, can not afford and have no use for.
I do not need internet when I'm driving. If I need internet when I'm away from home I'll pull into a McDonalds and use their WIFI and have a burger and a diet coke in exchange. But pay $40 a month for a limited voice plan and another $40 a month for a VERY LIMITED internet plan, NO WAY.

They can KMA.

I love that my phone is jailbroken so that I can customize it in anyway I want. I'm not giving up my Tinkerbell theme for anyone, they can go to hell.
I'm still using 3.1.3 because I do not at all trust the new iOS4. I have heard they have a kill switch built into it to brick JB/UL'd phones.

I'm on Cydia however and I can not find the "SBSettingsAdBlockToggle" app.. :(

Ad blocking on my iPhone.

I resent ads being injected into EVERYTHING on my iPhone.
And I do not even use the internet through the cell system, I use it as a WIFI ONLY device and as a cell phone.
When I'm not around my WIFI or a WIFI that I have permission to use, I have no internet, I have cell phone service only, BY MY CHOICE.

But the ads, I'm sick of it. Why doesn't someone take iOS and GUT the ad injection capability from it?

If nothing else, how about Mozilla for iPhone with Adblock Plus ?? I could dig that.

Women with large chests get "special attention" too. I know this as fact from friends.

I have to fly next year. I have metal implants in my body, broken bones in an accident.
I set off metal detectors from half a mile away. I also happen to have a large chest.
I prefer to wear skirts. Though I think I would rather not when I do fly next year.

I have been warned that because of the metal in my body I will be made to go through enhanced screening which will likely include a PORNO SCAN and a GROPE UP by a thug with a gun and a badge. When they grope you now, they squeeze and manipulate your breasts and they take time to feel your female parts. Each and every little detail of your girly bits, you know, just in case they are like, a bomb?

With the metal setting off the metal detectors and my chest setting off the, um chest detectors, I know they are going to more or less do the same thing to me a rapist would do, short of penetration.

This has gotten way out of control.

AT&T SUCKS.

I was a Centennial Wireless customer for years. They had towers all over and everywhere I went, I had 5 bars of signal.
Inside any and all buildings, anywhere. My cell phone worked perfectly inside my house which has a steel roof, inside stores, inside METAL buildings.

AT&T bought up Centennial and they turned off all the Centennial towers. There is ONE AT&T cell tower now to cover the entire area where I live and the signal strength is POOR.
I get "no signal" inside buildings, inside stores, and especially inside metal buildings. Inside my house, service was usually "no signal" or if I was lucky, ONE BAR.
I would miss calls, and there were constant dropped calls. I was PISSED. However I have an iPhone and moving to Verizon isn't an option.
Even when I put my SIM back in my old Nokia the service was still PISS POOR.

What I did find out through the FCC website, AT&T has turned all the old Centennial towers into ROAMING TOWERS so when I can't get a decent AT&T signal, which is frequently, it jumps me to an old Centennial tower and gives me 5 bars of signal but it says ROAMING here in my home town and I'm charged roaming fees.
IN MY OWN HOME I AM CHARGED ROAMING FEES!!

I bought one of those zBoost yx510 boosters. I had an antenna put up on my roof, 22 feet up in the air and I had the inside unit mounted to the ceiling in the center of my house. Now when I'm in my house I get 5 bars of signal, like I used to get on Centennial, before AT&T screwed things up. This booster, and I'm sure others, are great but they only help you in your home, they do no good when you're in a store and have no service there.

BTW, the cell thinging that AT&T sells, is CRAP. You have to have DSL service and it routes your phone calls through the DSL service and they then charge you data rates for doing so. It's not a cell repeater, it converts your cell phone into a wifi phone more or less. And if you walk out of your house or into your house with the AT&T "repeater" it drops the call, it won't do hand offs. The zBoost does do hand offs flawlessly, I can walk in and out of my personal cell bubble inside/outside and there is no glitch, no drop.

AT&T is a bunch of inept thieves. They are crooks and thieves and criminals and they rip people off with the WORST service on earth, period.
I despise AT&T with every fiber of my soul and being.

I had to spend $400 on this booster to get back service that I once had. I loved Centennial, they were 100% reliable no matter where I went, no matter where I traveled. I never missed calls, never had dropped calls, I was never over charged, I had GREAT terms of 200 minutes a month outgoing and unlimited 24/7 incoming minutes. I would call people and tell them "hey, call me back" and talk for free for as long as I wanted.

AT&T is garbage. AT&T sucks. Worst company on earth run by criminals that needs to be disbanded and torn down. Capitalism at it's worst.
