Submission + - Double click loads slow pages faster?

anymouse writes: "Sometimes a page seems to take forever to load, and my browser will often timeout while waiting for a response. However, if I get impatient and click on the URL again before timeout, the page often loads immediately. I have noticed this for many years, at least since the last century, and with various ISPs on both coasts. The effect is not consistent with time of day, website visited, nor anything else obvious. My working hypothesis is that the response I'm waiting for got lost somewhere, and that the second click finds it in a cache somewhere closer than the original site. I always feel a bit guilty about the double-clicking, as I suspect this exacerbates the problem for others. Anybody else experience this? or have a better hypothesis?"
