That's the route I've taken. I blog under my own name and leave comments on blogs under my real name too. Very little is done under a pseudonym these days. Slashdot is an exception as I joined back in 1998 or so and naturally picked a pseudonym because that's what I had been doing since my BBS days that started around 1993. It was around 2003 that I started bombing everything with my real name although that wasn't my intent at the time. I just didn't want to hide anymore.

So, if you do a web search on me you'll find that I'm pretty big into firearms, firearm rights, hang around a more conservative side of the blogosphere which also mostly centers around guns, and a bunch of stuff on mailing lists that I used to contribute to that were technical in nature. And, occasionally I'd drop some tech info somewhere online under my real name these days.

Firearms are the only item on the list that you have to declare. At least, that I'm aware of. At the very least it's the only thing on the list that'll permit/require you to keep your luggage locked up.

As far as limits go the only one I know of is an 11lb limit on ammunition.

Not sure this really effects Detroit all that much. I think they only sold 6 cars last year.

Now the "foreign" manufacturers that set up shop south of Michigan? They might actually care.

Yeah, I'm one of the weird people that doesn't have sex with somebody until I'm pretty sure they're not trying to give me a deadly disease or a lifetime infection.

What confounds me about this is that it appears I'm actually in the minority position. I'll never really understand people that rely on a 60 cent piece of rubber to keep them from getting a fatal disease so they can share an intimate experience with a person that might be killing them in the process.

Then again, I don't get human social interaction a lot of the time. All I know is life's simpler when you don't fark people you don't trust.

The figures are normalized to account for a year of using that specific method. It's not a per-incident value.

I'm not sure why this data surprises people. Ejaculating outside of a woman is pretty good at preventing pregnancy. It's basic biology.

Here's one that used to work pretty well for me:

Just bareback it for a while doing it bunny style. (Dogs having sex is kind of gross, but bunnies are cute!) Then you can work on the wrapper while you're doing your thing, get it ready, slide out, slide it on, and you're back in the game with only a 5 second interruption.

Spermicide failure rate for typical use: 29%

Pulling out failure rate for pefect use: 4%
Pulling out failure rate for typical use: 15-28%.

So, under typical usage they're about equal. However, if you're good at pulling out you'll be the pants off spermicide.

From my limited experience, ripping up roads to save money is a sign of extreme desperation. Things must be bad indeed in parts of Michigan.

Most of Michigan is in the dumper right now. The Grand Rapids area has unemployment about at the national average, but the state is at something like 13% overall right now. A town not more than 30 minutes from me (Muskegon Heights) has an unemployment rate around 24% last I heard. They just halved their local police force too. In a town there they always have a crime problem, that's not good!

The road thing is one of the few moves we're making that I 100% agree with though. A coworker of mine just had his road go from paved to gravel and it doesn't bug him at all. It was gravel a few years ago, went paved for a while, and they they reverted back to gravel the driving conditions improved.

Michigan's known for bad roads, but I'm not sure people realize just how bad they get. Drive too fast down a country road and you might knock your ass out from bouncing around so much, and I drive a damned SUV!

I remember tooling down an interstate in Illinois about, oh, 6-7 years ago with my younger brother. A sign came up, "DIP IN ROAD!" so I put two hands on the wheel and got ready for it. It was a tiny bump by Michigan standards, we wouldn't even bother marking it. We have pot holes so big around here that you'll seriously fark up your car if you hit them doing 35 sometimes.

Hell, big ran came through this spring and US-31 near me washed out. 30 foot of road, gone, with a drop off multiple feet high. Just saw a lawsuit today over a section of road in Allegan county that washed out and killed somebody that drove into it. Yep, we got holes in the road big enough to kill you 'round here.

Actually he could pay his bill, if you're talking about the incident in Bay City, MI. He had the cash sitting on his kitchen counter next to the bill and he left a sizable charitable donation behind in his will. I think it was $600,000.

It's more likely that he had dementia or some other issues and simply didn't know what to do to make the payment anymore.
