So being the virus replicates in cells this med could eradicate infected cells. How does it penetrate the bone marrow is the real question. Since you can remove all the virus by preventing it from breed which is done in existing medicine it continues to exist in the bone marrow. One person has been cured by a complete bone marrow transplant but that is not simple, cheap, and it is far from painless. Would be interesting to know if this has any effect on the marrow as all.

Comment Android Price (Score 1) 364

Well, the android OS is free. But selling a phone is based on features and price. In theory if you create a superior product people will be it. Apples product is good but I feel my android is far better. It doesn't lock me into ITunes and Apples monopoly. This was a selling point for me. Even with the "buy the phone at a discount with 2 year commitment price" my android, admittedly with small screen, cost me $29.99 USD. My last IPhone was $300 to buy with the same commitment. Quality matters of course, and a lot of people will buy apple because its a brand the like even regardless of the price, I don't see it as being unfair. Apple just needs to learn to compete on the playing field cause lets face it. At this point the real question is "Is Apple hurt by Andriod?" Yes it is, but there prices weren't so bloated they would sell more. Good product plus competitive pricing is the way to keep balance. the phones still cost money, its the OS that's free but I don't see Apple charging money for IOS updates either? You buy the phone, you get the operating system with it. For me who hardly uses the smart phone spending 300 dollars on a phone seems silly. the Android I have fits in my pockets, Find a woman who can say the IPhone fits in theirs. It is not going to happen. the IPhone is a good product but Apple greed gets in the way as is evidenced by Apples behavior toward Samsung as for late but they have a long history of suing everyone that moves. Apple doesn't want to compete on a level playing field, They want the whole market. diversity is good, If everyone has an IPhone Apple wont be very motivated to add new features. Even in recent releasess, the IPhone 3 with a 1.3 megapixel camera, or the IPhone 4 only being 3G they are not being properly motivated. I think andriod helps motivate them to upgrade.

I see some of what you are saying. Yes it was stated that college is a waste of time. This can be true. Depends on the field. Undergrad level of school is more about if you can do homework and take a test then actual knowledge gaining it seems. I disagree that geeks abandon knowledge because they abandon traditional concepts. Geeks are the forefront of change. The geek is the one who is smart and is likely to be successful or so we were taught in high school. When I worked in IT i skipped college and part of high school. Knowledge and my ability to research beyond traditional means moved me well into the 6 figure salary range. Do to numerous circumstances I find myself reexamining my life and needing a change from the stress of IT work. I've reentered college but I don't feel its a waste as my knowledge of my new field, psychology is limited from a professional standpoint. I have no doubt I could have another job in IT without those degrees but in person growth I am forced this time to get a degree. Is it a waste? No, its about if you learn from it. Sitting through a class in say "Unix shell scripting" would be pointless for me but If I wanted that IT degree odds are I would need it. It doesn't mean I can't do the job. College is about training people so they can do a job. If you can do a job without it then there is no reason why you need that degree, but if you can't its time for training. Its pretty simple. As to rejecting paper media if its on the screen are you going to learn any less from it? Geeks want innovation and paper books are an antiquated relic of times past. Technology is an enabler and it should be used as such. As to opposing knowledge that seems absurd. If someone truly opposes knowledge its probably time to remove them from the gene pool.

Apparently our government has forgotten about fax machines. Instead we probably spent half a million on that autopen device. For 8 bucks a month you can straight from your computer. DHL does overnight deliveries if it has to be there fast. Really the application of the autopen device seems futile. DHL would charge about 50USD each direction.. Seems like both of these are better options. That being said, its really unfortunate that he was allowed to do this. The patriot act should be expired.

Earlier we had an article here about the closing of the last typewritter factor. Some techs are just obsolete and need to be phased out. TV seems to be one of them. They are idiots of course in the entertain industry as we all know and will hang on by their teeth if they must as long as they can. Eventually we will close the door on the last TV manufacturing department in the world, and even then, they will still fight to survive. TV is dead because it failed to meet the needs of the people. Programming is completely rehashed over an over again. You can only tell the story of "boy meets girl" so many times before it become monotonous and people stop paying attention. TV plots are shallow and seldom draw people in. Youtube and Netflix offer the user variety they can select from that no TV broadcaster can compete with. An attempt was made by Thompson Sun Interactive in the 90's to add a level of interactivity to satellite and cable boxes but no one adopted it. Its this fear of change that will kill them, just as its doing to the movie and music industries.

I know my wifi router supports quality of service. You can throttle byl IPs. probably if you used static IPS for your box you could just throller everyone down to a reasonable bandwidth. The problem is when your Wifi is open the pirates can jump on. I've seen people parking in my apartment park lot and sitting on their notebook running Limewire. If you IP is open then when that legal notice comes for that guy in car, it will arrive in your name instead. Its a foolhardy thing to do.

I admit it. I was a DVD addict. I made a zillion trips to blockbusters previously viewed section turn purchase movies. I have close to 300. Since then blueray has come out. My solution was different. I compressed and stored all my movies in wmv (i know, but windows media center loves it) and sent all the discs over to my ex's house. Now I have 4 dvd players in the house but not one DVD movie.

That being said both my PC's have blueray burners in them and I do have blank media but I'm not gonna rush out and buy new discs. I stream my movie collection to the TV, If I don't have it I can stream it off Netflix. Discs are dead for movies much like VHS tapes and Myspace. Its time to force the idiots in the MPAA away from this stuff. Let them eat the losses of pressed bluerays that never sell.

A few years back my email account got hacked, they got my yahoo contact list and bombarded people with spam. My solution to this problem was to install Enigmail, om to my Thundeerbird. reader. This program allows me to easily digitally sign all messages. Granted the world is full of people not smart enough to verify a PGP signature but at least they know if the signature block isn't there. It is not from me.
