Submission + - MongoDB Interview Questions (intellipaat.com)

An anonymous reader writes: What is MongoDB?
MongoDB (from humongous) is a cross-platform document-oriented database. Classified as a NoSQL database, MongoDB eschews the traditional table-based relational database structure in favor of JSON-like documents with dynamic schemas (MongoDB calls the format BSON), making the integration of data in certain types of applications easier and faster.

Submission + - Mars Curiosity experiences short circuit; rover to be stationary for days (techienews.co.uk) 1

hypnosec writes: NASA has revealed that its Mars Curiosity rover has experienced a transient short circuit and has a result the rover has halted all work temporarily while its engineers analyse the situation. NASA reveled that from the telemetry data it received from Curiosity indicated a transient short circuit following which vehicle followed its programmed response, stopping the arm activity underway at the time of the irregularity in the electric current. NASA has parked Curiosity as its engineers analyse the issues and figure out if any damage has been done. NASA did say that transient short circuit would have little effect on rover's operations in some systems, but it could force the team to restrict use of rover's mechanism.

Submission + - Neck Pain Can Be Changed Through Altered Visual Feedback

sys64764 writes: Using virtual reality to misrepresent how far the neck is turned can actually change pain experiences in individuals who suffer from chronic neck pain, according to research published in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science.

“Our findings show that the brain does not need danger messages coming from the tissues of the body in order to generate pain in that body part — sensable and reliable cues that predict impending pain are enough to produce the experience of pain,” says researcher G. Lorimer Moseley of the University of South Australia. “These results suggest a new approach to developing treatments for pain that are based on separating the non-danger messages from the danger messages associated with a movement.”

Pretty soon we'll all be going to the gym wearing VR headsets while running appropriate programs and that sore neck or aching back won't mean a thing anymore!

At least until the body is positively identified (perhaps by DNA testing) to be that of Nina Reiser's, for all I know this is some ploy/maneuvering by the defense attorney (who had more than ample time to tell Reiser what he was planning) in order to reduce Reiser's sentence.

His attorney just happened to have another body on hand that they could give up as part of some legal maneouver? That's quite a defence attorney.
