Comment Use strict (Score 2) 180

The Microsoft S&M (TM) standard will mandate the declaration 'use strict' on all pages.

Oh, and I don't think Microsoft can embrace, extend, extinguish this one even if they tried, because everyone knows that IIS is a piece of shit. Apache still has 55%, but nginx is the fastest growing web server; I don't think standards can disrupt what's already a healthy ecosystem.

Comment Office and Outlook? (Score 1) 901

"[clients] to be upgraded at some point to Windows 7, Office 2010 and Outlook."

Returning to Windows for clients sounds reasonable, especially if there are problems with drivers. But going back to Office and outlook?

"According to the government, this will not give rise to any immediate costs, indeed, they expect introduction of these "standardised software products" to produce "efficiency gains".

Standard Mircosoft BS; Office is not "industry standard", many groups are seeking alternatives.

OpenTTD 1.0.0 has been released 6 years after work started on the first version, with the help of hundreds of contributors and thousands of testers/players. Over 30 language translations are considered complete, and OpenTTD is available for *BSD, Linux, Solaris and Windows. OpenTTD is a business simulation game in which the player is in control of a transport company and can compete against rival companies to make as much profit as possible by transporting passengers and various goods by road, rail, sea or air."

Comment The only problem is, (Score 3, Interesting) 80

It's impossible to play and have a hope of finishing unless you're power gaming. None of the main classes actually seem like their made so you could play as them. Unless you already have detailed knowledge of the game, there's not much point in trying to finish it.

That said, there's a feature in the latest patch that allows you to teleport to major areas in dungeons. Don't know how you could play without it. I mean, did anyone ever manage to survive an encounter with an ancient lich or an ancient vampire or a powerful daedra lord?

Then there's also the issue of all the randomly generated dungeons looking like octopuses mating, and that there are way, way too many fetch the foo quests. "Please, I'll help you with your quest to rid Dagerfall of the vengeful spirit, but could you please fetch me my adamantium underpants? I think I left them in a nearby dungeon infested with monsters..."
