Reading CDC's website, it's quite interesting to see that according to them 36,000 people on average die from seasonal flu and that's during the flu season. H1N1 only caused what, roughly 500-600 deaths since begining of the year and according to them it's active the whole year. http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/disease/us_flu-related_deaths.htm Hmm, is anyone else getting flashbacks to Wag the Dog? No?

Diesels are not as gutless a some may think. They are just tuned for low rpm performance, which is where those engines spend most of their life. Some guys modify their turbo diesels with bigger turbos, bigger injectors, propane injection and nitros oxide to produce some STUPID power. Here's a link showing some of those trucks drag racing other cars and beating them pretty bad... Link

Amen brother! It's saddening how the western media choose to ignore when Georgia started shelling civilian targets in South Ossetia and then launched a full scale invasion. Georgians were preparing for it for 4 years and planned to do it in one day before Russia could interfere. But only when Russia responded a day and a half later did we here about and what we heard was "Russia Invades Georgia!". There are both sides to this story but in this particular case it was Georgia that was the aggressor. And let's not forget history. South Ossetia was given to Georgia by Stalin ( who is Georgian) in the 1950's. Prior to that Ossetia was it's own entity and they and Georgians have a mutual hatred for each other dating back centuries. So when you hear that Georgia "lost it's territories" to Russian "aggression", stop and consider the real facts, not what news media is telling you!

Submission + - Islamic Supremacist Group in US and nobody cares! (foxnews.com)

They call it "search assistant". Basically if you try to search from address bar or mistype an address it hijacks your search from search provider you selected in your browser and redirects it to its own search page. "Opting out" does not really work all that well because it get's you to a page that says "oops we can't find what you were looking for" and then gives you a link that takes you to your preferred search provider. Very annoying to say the least. :-(

What I don't understand is why is everyone so obsessed with CO2. Humanity produces but ~2% of it, the rest is produced naturally by volcanoes, forest fires and such. If we all stop producing CO2 tomorrow, nothing will change, it's about time we realized that we are NOT gods and stop playing one. Yes, it's nice to have less pollutants in our cities but let's call it that and not the cure for global warming. Global warming is a natural process that has happened in the past without humans and will happen with or without them again.

Submission + - Media cover-up of controversial vote in the House (cbsnews.com)

toporok writes: It seems that the media is not neutral anymore these days. Most of it seems to have picked a side in the political arena. Here's another example. It seems that in their hate for Bush, the Democrats will do anything to oppose pretty much anything that comes from the Republican side and the media pretty much keeps hush on this. It has gotten so bad that just the other day, Democrats in a very controversial vote defeated a measure proposed by the Republicans to ban illegal immigrants from receiving federal assistance for housing and employment ( Yes, Welfare!). Yet it was briefly mentioned as if it was of no consequence and most media outlets didn't cover it at all. I'm not even talking page one, like it should have been. Nothing! I'm not saying Democrats are bad and Republicans are good, I'm a registered Democrat myself but this is ridiculous! Me paying pretty much 40% out of my paycheck to help American Citizens in need is not enough, now I have to support illegal immigrants?! Where will this stop? I have nothing against immigrants that come here legally and follow the legal process, I myself is an immigrant that followed the process and got my citizenship but I refuse to give my money to somebody that disregards our laws by coming to this country illegally and then demanding to be provided with assistance with educations, housing and unemployment. Here is the url to the story, and I really had to search to find even this one. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/08/03/politics /politico/main3130820.shtml
