Submission + - Linux goes to the Indy 500
savanik writes: "Acceleration Marketing and Lobby4Linux.com have teamed up to get Linux on the forefront of the Indy 500. The goal: Collect $350,000 in donations and get "Team Linux" on the booking. They estimate that if just 1% of Linux users donates just $1 they can achieve their goal. I've got more than that in the cushions of my sofa.
Marketing Linux has always been a tricky proposition. As a community, we have relied on corporations who have a stake in the Linux operating system to market Linux to the world at large. Today, we have an opportunity to change that, and make Linux marketing as much a community effort as Linux development. That effort begins with the Tux 500 project.
You can check out their website (and make donations to the cause) over at www.tux500.com."
