I'll be doing my part tomorrow to keep the 'net running so its still here when you all come back.

Journal Journal: Cleaning.. 6

So I woke up this morning to find a dumpster in our driveway.

The basement needs to be cleared out for reasons I won't go into here, but as if sent to coincide a serious need to reorganize my room the dumpster shows up.

I was told I can throw anything but wood and tires in there.

So far four boxes of crap that I haven't looked at since I moved four years ago have been tossed into the dumpster.

I've never had so much fun cleaning before.

My room is slowly feeling a little bigger and is emptying out... which is good because I need to relocate a bunch of stuff so I can fit my new TV where the current one is sitting.

The best part of this whole thing? I won't have to move so much shit when I move again this spring or summer.

Back to work now.

Superman: [after saving Lois Lane and other members of the media from a plane crash] I hope this hasn't put you off of flying. Statistically speaking, it's still the safest way to travel.

Lex Luthor: Come on, let me hear you say it, just once.
Lois Lane: You're insane.
Lex Luthor: No! No, not that the other thing. Come on, I know it's on the tip of your tongue.
Lois Lane: Superman will never...
Lex Luthor: WRONG!

Lex Luthor: Kitty, what did my father always say?
Kitty Kowalski: You're losing your hair.
Lex Luthor: Before that.
Kitty Kowalski: Get out?

Journal Journal: Tool last night. kicked ass.

Just amazing as always, that doesn't do the concert justice but my brains are to scrambled right now to put words to it.

The highlight for me was either The Pot, Jambi or Wings for Marie Pt. 2.

Jambi was definitely the loudest part of the show, that song is what plays in my head when I'm playing D&D and a character gets into a big battle, they should play shit like that for troops going into battle, they'd never lose.

My brain feels like its scrambled from the music last night.

Wings for Marie part 2 is amazing live, I'm remembering it now as I listen to it again..

I've seen Tool three times in concert now.

All three have been different and each time I come back completely happy.

Wow this is pretty incoherent, yup, brains are definite scrambled and I even had earplugs to lower the loudness of the music.

Oh and my surround sound speakers don't do justice to the songs played last night. :)

Journal Journal: Sold the Jaguar.

I should have the check that pays what I owe on it some time next week.

I am ok with being patient considering my mother decided to buy the X-Type from me.

It'll be nice to have several hundred dollars freed up a month.

To replace it I'm being given a '95 Chevrolet Lumina, talk about a step down. However zero dollars a month car payment and a 50% (at least) reduction in insurance rates beats any reason I could have for getting another car that I'd have to finance no matter how cheap it would be.

Journal Journal: Ask the dot.. 1

Here's a new one.

I've been put on a project to replace our slowly crumbling virtual mail system.

We are looking to migrate a massive amount of users 20,000-30,000 plus something like seven thousand domain names.

Oh and the system needs to be scaleable, so in two years it needs to be able to handle double the amount of users and such.

So what I need is advice on building large scale mail systems; I have three other people to work with all of which are bright but none of us have experience building a system on this scale.

At this time we're looking at Exim to be run on either FreeBSD / Linux. Qmail hasn't been entirely ruled out but we would rather like not to go that route since the base system hasn't been updated in a long time.

So if anyone has any experience with this I'd greatly appreciate any advice you can give. No changing jobs isn't an option. :)

Journal Journal: I hate hold music. 3

I hate it even more when its music that isn't really music.

It sounds like the watered down souless version of music.

Its made up of instrumental noises but there is virtually no variation in the sounds.

Yuck.

If I don't get a response in another few minutes I'm hanging up and trying again later.

Ugh.

Journal Journal: Sometimes working sucks.

Especially when friends call to find out where you are and what your doing because they are going out.

My response to a call 15 minutes ago?

"yeah.. Uh I'm working... Till 10."

I don't have to be at work till 11am tomorrow, trouble is they're already going to be who knows where and I'm not a huge fan of leaving my car wherever they end up at.

I even get to work tomorrow and monday. Yay!

At least I make crazy overtime on monday, and I will be out at 3pm.

Journal Journal: Why am I awake?

Sipping my coffee and wondering why I'm awake before 7am.

Oh wait that's right, I'm endevouring to avoid buying so much food away from home.

So I'm up, I'll be making an omlet and toast most likely in about twenty minutes.

Bleh. I still don't like 6:30am. (6:42 at this very moment)

This wouldn't work if I had to be in at 7am, there's no way I'd get up at like 4:30.

Morning, welcome to monday!

Journal Journal: **No Title**

It's amazing to me how oblivious people can be sometimes, we get caught up in our own lives and completely overlook situations that are going on with people we care about.

I just finished a long talk with my father, about life the universe and everything more or less, and at one point we got to talking about something that happened to me around eight years ago. As I vaguely mentioned what I was referring to he realized what I was talking about and admitted that he knew something was wrong but it never occured to him to ask me about it.

Now to be fair I was not very forthcoming at the time with information about this event and bungled how I handled it anyway. I explained it to him just now and he tried to appologize for never asking, I brushed that off gently as its long gone at this point and he had a lot more going on. Besides I was so numb around that point that any attempted help really would have feel on deaf ears.

It was a bit strange finally revealing what had went on to him even in the quick way that I did as its been a long time since the event. Which leads me to think that doing so was probably good for me in some fashion, actually now that I'm thinking on it a bit more I do feel like I let something go by explaining it to him finally.

In any case my father asked where we were living at the time and I told him which more or less explains why he never asked, there was too much other chaos in his life for it to have become a major concern -- to be clear he was working to keep his second marrage from breaking up. That's why I can forgive him for either overlooking or choosing not to ask about it, that's kind of a Big Fucking Problem.

Nothing really to add here, I just wanted to put this down somewhere so I can come back to reread it later.

Journal Journal: Just one of the things missing in my life.. 2

As of late.

Good tough exercise.

I'm sitting here having cool down from the first real workout I've had in at least a couple years knowing that I'm going to be very sore tomorrow and probably thursday and happy about that.

The annoyance and frustration that I drove home with has thankfully melted away and I suspect that I am going to sleep quite soundly tonight.

I've been putting a lot of effort into changing areas of my life that I was not happy with and I think that one of the items that I was overlooking is the fact that I have not been exercising.

Now it will just be a matter of keeping up with it. If I can keep this up for two months I'll start looking for a martial arts school and get back into that.

But for now, I think a shower is in order.
