Comment They do this at many, and it stifles... (Score 1) 383

At my university, we are engaged in a senior design class that is year long. However, over the years that this course is mandated, the outside clients we are suppose to help are never fully satisfied due to the fact that our university owns the student work and summarily no business venture can come about from it in order to help serve the consumers at large...
So, in light of this, many of these ideas are done at most "decently" and with no care... and for the students with ideas for business and patenting who lack the available resources to start things on a whim; nothing is accomplished.
There are ways to get around these impediments without withdrawing from school however; but it involves having some outside counsel and some money sadly.

Once again, the great American past time of sapping!

But will this knowledge being passed to the administration be lost in translation such it's interpreted that a possible Al Qaeda cell has been found? At the very minimum, does it posit that WMD have been discovered on Mars that threatens the fabric of American society.

As a neocon, I demand to know if this encroaches on intelligent design as well.

GTA IV Delayed Into Next Year 138

1up has the news that Take Two is moving Grand Theft Auto IV's release out to Spring 2008. Sam Houser (the executive producer for Rockstar Games) says that the demands of creating games for the new consoles, along with the scope of the game, forced their hand to maintain the quality they wanted. "'With Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar is setting a new standard for next generation video games,' stated Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two. 'Certain elements of development proved to be more time-intensive than expected, especially given the commitment for a simultaneous release on two very different platforms. We all recognize that perfecting the game is vital and I can assure everyone it will be worth the wait.'"

German Prosecutors Won't Help RIAA Counterpart 199

NewYorkCountryLawyer writes "A German court decision ruled that the European counterpart to the RIAA cannot invoke criminal proceedings over petty file sharing incidents. The goal was to to find out from ISPs the identity of alleged file-sharing subscribers; the requests have been refused as the judge saw the the proceedings as not in the 'public interest', and little or no economic damage was shown to have been caused to the record companies. Offering a few copyright-protected music tracks via a P2P network client was 'a petty offense,' the court declared. Within days, German prosecutors have now indicated that they will no longer permit the use of 'criminal proceedings' to procure subscriber information."
