This is the outcome of Stanford University’s Folding@home project. The record was made as Folding@home surpassed one petaflop, a computing milestone that had never been reached before by a distributed computing network."

Aditi.Tuteja writes: "Microsoft Corp. has agreed to modify Vista operating system in response to legal complaints that its desktop search function has brought disadvantage to Google and other potential competitors.

As of now no details are available on what changes Microsoft had agreed to make. Google said a feature built into Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system that allows users to search a computer’s hard drive did not leave room for competition from other desktop search applications. It is reported that Google claims that this feature violates the consent decree that monitors Microsoft’s conduct as part of its settlement with the U.S. government in its landmark antitrust case against the company."

Aditi.Tuteja writes: "FBI have put charges against three people for violations of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Under cybercrime initiative, called Operation Bot Roast, which has identified more than a million PCs infected with bot software.

Securityfocus reported that the U.S. Department of Justice have joined hands with Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) Coordination Center at Carnegie Mellon University and the Botnet Task Force, their aim is to disrupt the operations of bot masters that compromise their victims machines to use for sending spam or attacking other computers."

Aditi.Tuteja writes: "One of the Apple's new patent involves the detection of wireless interference on a handheld device. According to the application, accessories can effect wireless signal of a device, particularly if the accessories are placed near the antenna or are of the unapproved aftermarket variety. This interference isn't a good thing if you want a strong signal while using an accessory, so Apple with this patent is implying that your accessory might be harmful to the signal of the main device. The Device will give warning by way of a detector chip that is attached to the connector, which would be able to recognize types of accessories."

RealPlayer will only download DRM free files. The new RealPlayer will not download or record video that is DRM infected but will download everything else"

Maybe this is a good patent, but we can surely debate on this one. I mean that it's not nearly as broad as the statement makes it out to be. Cisco's main claim to innovation here is the dynamic access lists that affect routing of multicast traffic based on individual customers' subscriptions. That's pretty broad, but it's nowhere near a blanket patent on triple-play in general. To the extent that anyone has to worry about the patent, it's not Comcast or AT&T. It would be Nortel and Extreme and other network equipment vendors who are probably already looking at offering the same capabilities in future products.
