Anecdotal evidence everyone is probably familiar with seems to confirm this. When you're at the office all day and decide to eat a pizza for lunch it seems very obvious that you're at least half way out of commission for the rest of the day. I had always assumed it was simply because one gets so stuffed from pizza, but apparently the high fat content played a big role too.

Needless to say, I'm sticking to my low-fat diet with even more fervor henceforth ... although an occasional blunder feels SO good! Not while working though, this study clearly showed that.

But that's what makes the game realistic! If fame actually meant something that'd be boring, people actually _want_ fame to be meaningless while having a big face value upfront. It's why we've created the concept here at the biggest MMORPG everyone plays.

The cat starts on day one and never really stops. Most humans just fail to notice this subtle battle for superiority because cats are small and cuddly.

That's why my girlfriend's cat looks at you like you're an idiot when you ask it to get off the table, and when you ask mine (politely) she jumps off. Even just pointing to the floor gets her to jump off without complaints.

In short, yes, yes it is. But really, stereotypes exist for a reason and are a good heuristic to start with. It's only when people don't recognise it's just a heuristic and not a full-proof personality profile that problems arise.

In my experience they don't fish for compliments a lot because I have a rule to always reply with an uncompliment when someone is being silly like that.

Because women fish for compliments. It's their thing and I have yet to find a woman who wouldn't do it. Usually it's best to just pay them the compliment and be done with it.

Ah yes, but the question "Does this make me look fat" is in a whole other ballpark than "What do you think of this outfit"

The point of the former is to corner you and force a compliment out of you because the lass is feeling a bit unsure of herself. Whereas the latter is an honest request for an opinion and honesty is expected.

See the thing is, I do want to talk about such things. Just you know, at an appropriate time ;)

Of course they should tell you the sex should be improved, just you know ... timing is everything.

Then again, telling your partner the sex is bad because their penis is too small is probably less than productive in creating a better sexual experience for anyone.

I concur, but I sure don't like such a slap in the face as having an orgasm and then hearing "You know honey, that really sucked. I hope you do better next time"

What's so bad about not wanting to deal with someone's reaction? I'm sure they don't tell you the sex sucked right after you're done ... just as you probably don't tell them it's the arse that makes them look fat not the jeans.

Small lies, it's what holds relationships together.

Why would it ruin the game? Were the LOTR films ruined by the previous publication of the book? And many other examples. If the game is made well and interesting, knowing hte story won't ruin it, knowing the story will make you more immersed and will let you experience the story in a whole new perspective.

I think it's brilliant, just imagine what fun it'd be to experience the chilling effect of The Pit And The Pendulum in something as immersive as a game, or, I dunno, fighting lobstrosities on a forgotten beach yourself instead of just reading about it.

No need even to go next door, could've happened right here on earth. I still find it hard to believe that something such as dinosaurs, which we know occupied most of the planet, weren't some sort of civilised life. By now all anthropologic data about their civilisation would be lost anyway, we can hardly find the Mayan pyramids and that was only a few thousand years ago.

Exactly, why would you want to communicate between planets when in a few thousand years after having populated one everybody you left there will forget they're still the aliens? Even their technology would probably start diverging from what you left them with and eventually they'd become a group of organisms looking into the sky to find aliens and wondering why there aren't any ...

... maybe that's why we're so adamant about finding them. Deep down somewhere we know we're aliens and would like to go home now to visit mum.
