I've said for a long time that it's just stupid to trust Google to keep any of their services up and running and to rely on them. You get what you pay for. People who still haven't got that are just going to see more services they use dropped.

I can't understand why they didn't try to work with Opera tho. Opera Software has years of experience in embedded systems, mobile phones, Wii, hotel tv's... They have the tech and knowledge.

The browser uses, of course. But they're talking about the whole OS. WebOS is supposed to work fully using WebKit to render it. iOS doesn't render the UI and apps with web browser.

That also means that everyone loses trust in Google's services. They just seem to cancel anything anytime they want. There was an earlier discussion about Native Client. Who's to say Google won't just drop it? Even Microsoft offers very specific end-of-lifecycle dates and they're always several years in to the future. With every version, too!

I won't be trusting Google's services to stay up, and hence won't be using them either. I only use the ones I can afford to end randomly, like search and youtube.

That still doesn't change anything. Microsoft lets other browsers implement ActiveX too if they want to. But they don't. Why would other browsers suddenly start supporting everything Google does, especially non-standard stuff?

So why make it again, and especially why bundle it with browser? There is Adobe AIR already and it works with every browser, not just Chrome. And on every platform, too.

We had that shit before with ActiveX. We need standards, not some stuff that only works in Chrome. However, I guess it's better for Google - now they have something that only works with Chrome. So when new users go to some web site it will say that they need to download and install Chrome to use it. Old users will also be locked to Chrome.

Don't do that. Only use standards like HTML5 that work in every browser.

Which is mostly caused by the stupid war on drugs. If you just let your people get high there wouldn't be any reason for such violent immigrant crimes that mostly come from Mexico. There was lots of crime involving bootleg alcohol when it was banned too. All that went away when alcohol was legalized.

You need to look at complete picture when fixing bugs and vulnerabilities. There wouldn't be need for any SCADA system to begin with if U.S. fixed its prison system. Currently it's only making money for those who own prisons. It's mind blowing that something like prisons would be commercially run.

The SCADA system isn't flawed, the whole prison system in U.S. is. Not only have studies shown that there is no need for such locked down prison facilities, but it's also demonstrated by real life experiences in Norway. Almost all of Norway's prisons are open. Their objective isn't locking down people but correct behaviour. The purpose is to create real life environment, complete with saunas, sunbeds and own rooms and furniture. It makes much more sense too. If you just lock down people for years they are always going to stay criminals. If you try to correct their behaviour and reintroduce them to system and proper behavior, they will learn and also stay out of prisons in future. It's very telling that U.S. has one of the highest percentages of their people in prisons. That system clearly isn't working.
