Comment Do NOT trust insurance companies (Score 1) 24

...especially NOT medical insurance companies.

In several decades of IT consulting, I have repeatedly encountered insurance companies where everyone was an entitled, self-satisfied, arrogant prick who believed that their IT was perfect, that they knew everything, and they could not be told about the gaps in their knowledge; and they believed everyone they met had to jump to satisfy their every demand. And it always turned out that the individual involved did not have the authority to decide anything.

Best policy: leave them to rot in their own juice.

Late 80s, early 90s. Just before the brown stuff hit the rotating air mover.

The exact same four aspects: mission statements composed of sunshine and kittens, complacency ("No-one ever got fired for buying IBM"), delusions of exceptionalism (Token Ring was theoretically great, but the IBM-designed hardware stank, and they refused to release the IP so someone competent could have a go - they lost the whole networking space), too many middle managers, too many VPs.

But they did one thing right - when they made me redundant, the payout was excellent.

are they really just supporting the CIA spying on all your and everyone's communications?

Just think f all the googleplexes of data storage they are sucking up with such ads.

So here is what to do, get all the junk you can and filter it. If you want to be funny, bounce it to the spys. But do it in a way that you can say...opps! it was a technical error.
