"All data gathered will be destroyed after the match with this particular murder." Governments are notorious for not destroying the data they are suppose to destroy like this. The only way I would believe it is

2) a penalty if they dont.
3) a law that it cant ever be used against you except for this specific crime

MySQL Reverses Decision On Closed Source 157

krow writes "I am very happy to be announcing that MySQL will be forgoing close sourcing portions of the MySQL Server. Kaj has the official statement in his blog. No portion of the server will be closed source including backup, encryption, or any storage engines we ship. To quote Kaj 'The encryption and compression backup features will be open source.' This is a change from what was previously posted here on Slashdot. I've posted some additional thoughts on my own blog concerning how we keep open source from becoming crippleware. Word has it that we will also have a panel at this year's OSCON discussing this topic. Contrary to the previous Slashdot discussion, this shows Sun's continued commitment to Open Source."

Maybe this has some potential to be the next fuel..

Submission + - Space pioneers wanted

axehind writes: The ESA is preparing for future human exploration missions to Mars. They are currently looking for 12 volunteers to take part in a 520-day simulated Mars mission. The simulations will take place here on Earth inside a special facility in Moscow. A precursor 105-day study is scheduled to start by mid-2008, possibly followed by another 105-day study, before the full 520-day study begins in late 2008 or early 2009. Do you think you got what it takes?
