Don't forget the "Just blame Steve for all the issues" that the media uses.

Having flash and java coming directly from the developers its what I'm use to and seems to be the best solution in order to get always the latest securest version.

'Back To the Mac' Media Event On October 20th 349

Kildjean writes "Engadget reports that Apple has issued invitations for a special media event to be held next Wednesday, October 20th at 10:00 AM Pacific Time. The invitation for the event, which is to be held at the company's campus in Cupertino, California, carries the tagline 'Back to the Mac.' The invitation also contains an image of what appears to be a lion peeking out from behind the Apple logo, hinting at discussion of Mac OS X 10.7. 'Lion' has been one of the most commonly-suggested 'big cat' names for the next-generation operating system. Much of Apple's notebook line with the exception of the entry-level MacBook is due for a refresh, and Apple has refreshed at least a portion of its notebook line each October or November for the last several years. Apple's desktop offerings have all been updated relatively recently, suggesting that the company's media event may focus on notebooks if new hardware is included on the agenda."

iFixit Moves Into Console Repair 75

sk8pmp writes with news that iFixit, a website known for Apple gadget teardowns and repair guides, is expanding into the game console market, launching a series of troubleshooting and repair guides to help gamers fix their own machines. They're also starting to sell replacement parts and the tools necessary to work on them. "Right now there are repair guides for 24 gaming consoles, including 206 repairs and upgrades. Some of these fixes deal with major issues, such as the infamous Red Ring of Death from the Xbox 360, but others are simpler. For instance, right now there is no easy way to clean out the fans inside your console. 'I think this is probably the number one cause of overheating these days now that manufacturers have mostly gotten their act together,' Wiens said. 'This is routine maintenance, and it's mind-boggling that the manufacturers don't provide people with an easy way to open the case up and blow it out.' You'll also learn how to replace broken LCD screens on your portables, replace the motherboard on your PlayStation 3, and do just about anything else you might want to do to these systems, from the simple to the harrowing."

iPad is between phone and computer.

This means: you don't use it as a phone, you don't use it as a desktop computer.

You don't call 911 with the ipad but you can use skype. You don't develop a software in iPad but you can create and show your presentation in keynote, etc, etc

You tried a netbook and then decided, give iPad a try and then decide.

Again, the problem is not the screen size in this case, it is the input device.

With the mouse, the pointer is 1 square pixel(just 1 pixel), with your finger the pointer is at least 3x3 pixels, sometimes 10x10 pixels and all your current swf won't work 100% exactly as in your desktop.

So, pleople need to understand that you can not use the same swf in the same way using 1) a smaller screen and 2) a totally different input device.

How is that supposedly smart people does not understand the basic of math?

A 3.5 inch display is not the same size as a 19 inch display.
You can not use flash UI (or any other UI) in such a tiny display, its not Apple/Adobe's fault.
You just can not replace 1 square pixel pointer (mouse) with a 9 square pixel pointer(finger) and expect everything to work the same.
