Robert Rackstraw stories always amaze me, mostly because we forget so much about what life was like during the Vietnam Era. There's a lot of context missing from this analysis, like how so many people went around claiming to be D.B. Cooper during the 70s and how a good number of them had similar military training. This is back when Soldier of Fortune was a guide to being manly and a life of adventure that didn't involve a snowboard was still to be had.
You could apply the same logic the author does to the cases of Ted Mayfield, Richard McCoy, and a few others to reach the same conclusions. Robert Rackstraw is undoubtedly a badass and someone I'd love to have a beer with, just the stories about his Silver Stars are pretty incredible.
But, when you consider all the other things he's done, for Rackstraw to be DB Cooper is outside-the-realm-of-possibility amazing. Apply some common sense: how could he have done this without some help from the FBI? Why would the FBI protect someone who also stole an airplane trying to fake his own death?

It's more like Bolshevism, with small groups of the disaffected trying to change cultural norms to suit them despite the fact large numbers of people are really not supporting their arguments. Reminds me of other cultural revolutions, which always devolve into orthodox ideological arguments, reeducation, expulsion of non-conformists, and tons of propaganda.
This article really got me thinking about Democracy and the discontent. While some good comes from entertaining thoughts of mass social change, it's rare.
Several of my friends have seen the movie.
The youngest of them - in his 20s - thought the story was lame and was put off by the "galactic scheming." He felt like the movie was really stretching to find motivations for the actions of the characters. Kylo Ren is the one he complained about the most, he said nothing he did made sense.
The oldest of them - in his 40s - enjoyed the new ships, redesign of older ones, and overall special effects. He said the depictions of space battles were well done, but the camera moved a little too fast for his taste. He didn't have much to say about the plot, other than to recount some of the facts that happened.
Not having seen the film, I can't comment on why there may be a different appeal for different generations. The thing that bothers me about the movie is the distribution deal Disney worked out with theaters. To show the film, they had to agree to keep it on screens for at least 4 weeks.
I remember going to see The Force Awakens on a Friday night a few weeks after it was released. The theater was empty. An usher walked through the theater a couple times just to make sure we were being behaved. That memory stands out more than the film.
I don't know about you, but watching a movie in an empty theater feels creepy.

Yes, definitely, local team restrictions are a bit of a pain. It impacts people following non-local teams too, you can't see your team when they play each other.
Of course, there are ways around that. You could watch it on a TV, but I just connect to a VPN. Does not impact the quality.

By contrast, I watch Red Sox games on MLB.tv. Cost about $100 for the full season in HD and no commercials. Gladly paid it and watched maybe 75% of games last season.
In the NFL, all but 8 markets have sub-par teams. No one really wants to watch their team lose every Sunday, they want to see the games people will be talking about next week. Or at least be able to check in on them. Market exclusivity is hurting the NFL more than any other factor.

I actually believe this was all a marketing campaign for him personally. The fact he's still in some form of legal jeopardy doesn't seem to phase him much.
He recognized that the costs of a necessary medicine are paid by insurance companies that gouge in other areas as well, and promoted the hell out of that fact. There's a part of me that wants to say this is some form of corporate theater, and he's auditioning for a much larger part in exploiting the financial system.
