I am the founder of Advanced UX, a UX consulting company that specializes in complex design tasks for domains like Big Data, Healthcare, analytics, programming tools, and so forth. I also run a small mobile entertainment start-up called eweware that focuses on user-created content. I have been in the industry for decades. I started at Microsoft in 1996 as a user interface researcher working in the Social Computing Group of Microsoft Research. Later I spent two years in Beijing, where I worked for Microsoft Research Asia and founded the Asia Center for Interaction Design. I then returned to US to head UX Compliance for Vista, running the Fit and Finish team and publishing the Windows User Interface Guidelines. I then returned to Beijing where I was the Creative Director for the Advanced Technology Center, running the centralized design team that worked on such things as Windows Mobile and Surface.
