Comment I blame the ISPs (Score 4, Interesting) 179

A lot of the government offices will face challenges with IPv6 connectivity to the internet because a very large number of US ISPs are not IPv6 ready. Especially up here in midwest, you mention "are you IPv6 ready?" and your ISP sales rep gives you a blank look and asks what you're talking about. Maybe if the governments push for this at the ISP level we might see it filter down.

Are consultants and hardware manufacturers. The government has no idea what to do with this information, and its going to spend an enormous amount of money for what will end up being a data vault that is locked away because its too big of a failure to admit they were wrong in the first place to attempt this.

Comment I don't get the point of Kickstarter (Score 4, Insightful) 86

Call me a scrooge, but the idea of donating money to projects that will eventually charge you to purchase the product they produce seems ridiculous to me. On top of that, there is no guarantee that the project you donate to will see the light of day. Honestly, can someone tell me why this is such an appealing option?
