He is bringing bold thinking into the limelight. There is alot more bold thinking and research going on that we are not fully aware of (E.g. CRISPR) in different fields of science. I see him as an inspiration.
On his record, I do not believe the engineering capabilities were of commodotized to a point necessary to achieve what he is doing. It would only be possible inside secret government facilities.

In actual fact, the key time when you should be using OO is when creating a framework. The resulting use of that framework, in the business context, would be procedural.
Determine your competitors greatest assets.
Figure out which legislation you can lobby to attack those assets.

It is quite straight forward really. What I would be curious to see is the timeline under which it would make an impact. Is this something that takes 20 years once planted or takes a year? Does it result in a steady state system or is it a once off measure to capture the output?
This is exactly his flaw. He did not foster the necessary environment to bring about the level of innovation required with the necessary technical excellence required. There would have been internal politics and silos that blinded him to the necessary innovation.

This is about corporate. I have upward of 2000+ servers and $1.5billion in spend. All i need is one vendor/partner to cry foul and say that their platform depends on unsupported technology that is subject to a zero day flaw resulting in me having to spend stupid cash for one vendor not having an upgrade strategy. Whats important to recognize is that they understand their needs of their fellow sysadmins and teams and they are willing to commit engineers and r&d to support. They should be rewarded for this.
