I agree completely. OpenSUSE is easier to use (with a control panel clone, too!) and KDE is actually up to date on it the majority of the time. I use Arch myself, but that's clearly not a newbie distro.

The US quality of life is a good part of why we're so screwed right now. I'd suggest bringing it down to something realistic before trying to make other countries as excessive as us.

I realize that Canonical needs money and this deal would get them some, but this is still sort of sad in that it's giving M$, the biggest competitor of... any OS really, more money. Also, Google has served Firefox and Ubuntu quite well in the past, so I'm having a hard time figuring out how this serves Canonical well in the end.
