Submission + - Flash Full-Screen in Ubuntu/Linux 5

Derpnooner writes: I don't think that I'm alone with this issue: I CANNOT seem to watch any flash content using full-screen without terrible video playback, ie. Slow video, screen tearing, and slow playback. I've been using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and have tried most fixes presented in the Forums, with little or no success. I'm wondering if any Slash-dotters have had this same issue, and if so, is there any suggestions. I hate watching videos in a window and if I boot into XP I don't have this issue. Youtube, Hulu, etc. all seem to experience this same issue. I don't wish to use windows any longer, as I love Ubuntu's interface and the linux community. Help me, I wanna watch Naruto in Full-Screen.

Comment Google is a Microsoft competitor. (Score 0) 109

Microsoft probably doesn't include these lists, I speculate, because Microsoft and Google are in direct competition; i.e. Chrome vs. IE, Windows vs. (Googles new desktop), Google vs. Bing (live search), Android vs. Windows Mobile, etc. Microsoft doesn't want to include the competitor in their software. Remember when Windows 98 came out, and the anti-trust issue came about? Microsoft did not want to include Netscape Navigator in their software because they (Netscape) were a direct competitor with Microsoft. The evil empire does not share power. One software mogul to rule them all. lol

Apple expects you to pay for updates to a system they feel is unstable and slow, and they are charging for it? That seems kinda weak to me, but what do I know? I tell you... I know better than to pay for upgrades. I've had XP since it came out and I've never had to purchase an update. I'm pretty sure, they've made a ridiculous number of fixes, both cosmetic and under-the-hood, and they've always just come down the line for free. You WIN-haters sure love spending more for basically the same thing. Sure, I can't make my windows wobble about, but I can run Crysis pretty well, and cheap. I spent about $300.00 bucks for my PC, that, by the by, can run OSX now that WINTEL makes the chips. MAC's are nice, but where is the value?

Comment Windows 7 won't work correctly until windows 8. (Score 1) 720

It has been my experience that all Windows OS'es suffer from a lack of driver support in their infancy. Windows XP blew until SP1, Win 2000 was terrible until SP2, and so on. I was so annoyed with XP when it first came out, I formated the drive and loaded Mandrake Linux. When SP2 came out on XP, I decided to try again, and I was able to use my PC without crashing to BLUE everytime I installed a USB device. I really liked the Win 7 RC, until I put it on a newer PC. (First MOBO was an ASUS socket A with ATI x700) This machine worked great with all my devices. However, I upgraded my MOBO to a (AM2+ Asus board and geforce 9600) and every 5 minutes my wireless USB adapter would cause the device manager to freeze and I could only get it to work again by doing a hard reset. (win 7 would not shutdown on it's own.) I tried a fresh install... same problem. I replaced my wireless USB for another... same problem. I decided to install Vista SP2 and everything works without Flaw. I figure about the time WIN 8 is on the horizon, I'll be able to use Win 7 (SP2), until then... I am content using Vista. -Which, by the by, works fine when you disable UAC control. Games work better than XP, system is reliable, and I don't have to worry about my OS any longer. Rectum? Damn near Killed 'em.

The CPU is used no matter what is ran on the machine. The GPU helps take the load off the CPU, but all information has to be first routed by the CPU. A better CPU will increase FPS in almost all cases. You're only as strong as your weakest link, hence the term, bottlenecking. i.e. (I replaced an old mobo [many years ago] with a newer ASUS board and CPU, and continued using the 9800pro[AGP]... I definately saw improvement in all my games at the time) DOOM3 UT2003 Valve(any) etc. However, soon everything will run off of cloud computing: You'll only need a fast internet connection and an average amount of RAM. You'll never own a game again, just licenses to play.
