oh lord this reminds me of a phone call I had this morning with an 80+ yo customer (helping with his connectivity), of Austrian or German descent, Helmut von something or other,

Me, speaking slowly and articulating each word, after spending a long time explaining what a web browser is, "ok sir, now that you have entered the website address, please press the enter key."

In a soft gurgling voice, he answered slowly, painfully, "urghalam, urs, ahh, ussh, ur, er, nein, , urgh, argh, ja, ok, no, I cannot see the enter key anywhere on the screen..."

At this point my toes curled in on themselves and I screamed silently, stomach contents churning in rancid, bubling acid.

Sorry, but your post is so wrong on so many levels, it's actually quite funny, amazingly ignorant.

You sound like a typical windows user, frankly. Just change everything just for the sake of change... god almighty. What about continuity, evolution, incremental changes, stability? The world is full of horror stories about the many, many multi-million dollar "rewrites" committed by IT criminals - almost all of which end in failure, wasting tax payer or shareholder money.

What you find "silly", "fragmented", "arbitrarily", etc, others find eminently understandable, rely on and are thankful for. Thankfully, your kind will always have windows where you can screw around to your vacuous hearts content, trashing mindlessly as you go. For the educated and enlightened, there is UNIX.

So, please, get back to your real-world equivalence of windows, which is inbreeding with your momma behind the trailer outhouse.
