Comment The unreasoning evil (Score 1) 263

The thing I always find scary about zombies is that they can't be reasoned with, there's nothing to connect with. If you look at many of the other horror movie/story staples, there's often something that can be connected to. Frankenstein's monster had some humanity left that could be connected to, the same with vampires, and even serial killers, but the zombie is unable to communicate, and can't be connected to. (unless you're talking about one of those weird zombie movies where they can, like one I watched part of on AMC the other day, I want to say return of the living dead or something, about some kids in a mortuary). At the same time, I find the older style zombie stories about the witch doctors less scary for this exact same reason. Perhaps the witch doctor can be reasoned with, or in some cases even the zombie itself. It's for this reason that I didn't really find the serpent and the rainbow http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096071/ a scary movie at all. At the same time, I did find it an interesting and good movie.

Amen. I enjoyed the original, but I won't be picking this up. While blizzard may be bigger than flagship and less likely to just go away all of a sudden than flagship was, I won't take the risk of being burned again. Buying hellgate and not being able to play online in ways other than through their servers pretty much ended how much I enjoyed hellgate.

I hear you there. I'm 6'2" also, and for a while on a health kick I got down to I want to say 230 or so. I just couldn't lose any more weight than that without trying to drop muscle mass (and I'm not a body builder or anything either). I felt the exact same thing about my frame. If I was to try and get into the 'healthy' range for my weight I felt like I'd be 2D. BMI doesn't take into account things like how wide your shoulders are and how big your frame is, and therefore isn't really all that useful in my opinion. Of course on the other hand, it's a pretty quick and easy thing to figure out without needing much more than a tape measure and a scale.

Actually the 100th patch brought back the reason to be a regular PK. I never participated, but from my understanding it basically led to raiding in AC with different groups controlling an area and fighting for control over it with some added benefit for being there. I can't speak to any of the other changes the patch brought either since I wasn't playing, but PK became a big deal again, even on the carebear servers, after that patch. Of course that was like a year ago, so I have no idea what direction things have taken since then.

Not to mention that in AC you could directly recall to any one portal, summon any 2 other portals, and then have any two of the respawn points tied to to recall to also. On top of that there were many unique portals you could go on quests to get unique recall spells for. On top of all that, there were some dungeons that had like a dozen portals at the bottom to all over the land. It was extremely easy to get all over the place in that game. I still have many fond memories of that game, though last I heard they made it heavily PvP biased, which never really interested me.

In Super Mario World, if you used the mega jump game genie code I believe it was, during the attract screen mario would die instead of landing on one of the enemies. The game would then immediately start with you playing in the level from the attract screen.

Not to mention the fact that there were types of Polaroid film that produced a negative in addition to the positive print. I don't know if they made a color version, but we played around with the B&W film a bit in my photo classes. It certainly made using the 4x5 camera a lot more practical. Just thought of another glitch I found at some point that I'm not sure if it's ever been posted around before. In Super Mario World (SNES) if you used something like a game genie to alter mario's jump height (I believe it was the option for the tallest jump height for the game genie in the book that came with it) it was possible for mario to die during the attract screen. If mario died during the attract screen the game would then stick you in the game on that level mario was just in that was being played by the computer. You could do all the normal stuff, but there wasn't a whole lot to do. I think the only way to exit was to reset the game, but it's been many years. It didn't have a whole lot of use, but it was a neat trick none the less

Dungeons of the Unforgiven (Dos):
The monster map for this game could be deleted causing the monsters to reset their positions on the map. If you knew where a monster that was really beneficial to be killed was located, you could kill it, save/quit, delete the monster map, and then load your game back up.

Ultima: The False Prophet (SNES version):
There's a glitch where you can get tons of free items. The gist of it is that you have to have enough items in your storage sack in your inventory so that you can scroll down past the bottom of your normal inventory in the sack (which takes something like 16 items if you have nothing else in your inventory). When you exit the sack you will be below your normal inventory. From there you can scroll up to get to your inventory, or scroll down to find hundreds of different items including armor, weapons, and key items from the game. You can pick those items up and move them to your main inventory then and have them for your own use. This glitch does occasionally kill all your party members without sending you back to lord british, which means you have to load your last save, so always save before use. I've never seen this posted anywhere before I posted it on gamefaqs a few months back, but I've known about this for around 15 years.
