Why would companies replace systems that are working well?

Because the director of IT or whatever his title is will want to be able to put on his resume that HE moved a company from a "Legacy" and "Outdated" system to a modern "web based solution" that enables "greater productivity" among the workforce saving "millions of dollars". Now, he can put that on his resume and go for the CTO, CIO, or whatever jobs.

I've seen it and it works.

Some of them make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and they blow it. Some of it they blow up their noses.

Secondly, I see time and time again, men who give those people their hard earned money thinking that person "likes" them; hence why those women think men are losers and suckers. I'm not saying why I know this.

It's bad for an economy when an entrepreneur has to first take into consideration the taxes before engaging in a business enterprise or even consider them. That's just idiotic.

Taxes are a necessity for a society, but when they become a burden and retard entrepreneurial activity, then its tax structure needs to be examined.

Damn straight about the Man Pages! Man pages are for reference for experienced users. In other words, for those who are wondering, "What are the parameters again?" Why?

You see, when you read the man pages, parameters have all these "[]" and "-" and other things. I've occasionally come across programs that had "optional" parameters in their man pages that ended being required.

Some of the local papers and media are becoming more and more opinionated. They're not just stating the facts - they're throwing in opinion. I have my own opinions - thank-you-very-much - and I refuse to spend my time reading some other person's. Oh, and let me add something. There is NO SUCH THING AS THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA and the rest. They are ALL "mainstream media". Those folks who bitch about the "mainstream media" work for the mainstream media themselves; which makes them bullshitters.

I don't know. It drove me batty! It's Fedora 9 here. Anyway, when I installed it, the machine would get to the loader and lock up. I couldn't get anywhere. After I reinstalled F9 without GRUB, it all worked fine.

I'v tried other options: Fedora 10's install wouldn't even run on my Linux box. Ubuntu doesn't run on that same box. I have only 512MB Ram and the system is so old I refuse to add more memory to get Ubuntu to run on it. The Ubuntu guys said I needed more memory.

Even then, it's scary proposition to move everything. I have this nagging feeling that I'm going to miss something very important! Dual boot? I don't know. I have had issues in the past with GRUB locking up machines and no being able to rescue my system. I had to reinstall everything.
