Washington keeps an eye on its borders because neither Oregon nor Montana have sales taxes. I've seen roving police patrols stopping motorists coming in who have what looks to be a vehicle full of new consumer goodies.

I call complete bullshit on this, even with $20,000 worth of merchandise, we are talking only $1300 with a 6.5% tax rate. you cant just pull someone over for buying merchandise in another state, especially since what youre SUPPOSED to do is just claim the merch on your state tax return.......what if you happened to like the sales staff better at a certain store?

In what way will this provide _ANY_ benefit to legitimate users?

More music sellers will be willing to provide music through such a system, making the available amount of music larger as a whole. (Kinda like how the vast majority of legitimate paying mobile application developers have flocked to the iphone, where the largest successful DRM implementation is)

I'm not saying I at all agree with this plan, i'm simply answering your question.

I'm fine with your proposal as long as all of the supporters of free drug use are forced to live in the druggie parts of town.

This is the kind of ignorance that leads to years of problems with backwards social policy, because it presumes that drug use isn't widespread throughout ALL social groups and classes. (read: If you knew the reality of the situation, every neighborhood would be "the druggie part of town")

No matter how you look at it, even if you agree that you hacking a console yourself should be legal, reselling consoles that are basically being designed to pay illegally copied games rather than imports is NOT ok.

Then tell me, would you feel differently if people were simply bringing their already purchased consoles to him and he was making after-market modifications to them and simply charging a parts and labor fee? (Rather than reselling modded consoles)

The issue is that it is extremely easy to have a fatal overdose when using straight nicotine, as in consuming orally the equivalent of 30 cigarettes at once accidentally or not, will undoubtedly kill you. (cigarettes have about 2mg nicotine each, a fatal dose hovers around 60mg, this is not an issue when the drug is smoked, because it is impossible to ingest that much of the drug at once through smoking it)

From the wikipedia article on nicotine "The LD50 of nicotine is 50 mg/kg for rats and 3 mg/kg for mice. 40â"60 mg (0.5-1.0 mg/kg) can be a lethal dosage for adult humans.[37][38] Nicotine therefore has a high toxicity in comparison to many other alkaloids such as cocaine, which has an LD50 of 95.1 mg/kg when administered to mice. It is impossible however to overdose on nicotine through smoking alone (though a person can overdose on nicotine through a combination of nicotine patches, nicotine gum, and/or tobacco smoking at the same time.) [39][40] Spilling an extremely high concentration of nicotine onto the skin can result in intoxication or even death since nicotine readily passes into the bloodstream from dermal contact.[41]"

After reading this post, I read the wikipedia article on New Balance and it absolutely sickened me how clearly astroturfed the article had been to make the average person skimming it think that they manufacture anything close to a majority of their products in the USA.

An example - New Balance is one of several shoe companies that makes some of their products in the United States. Co-op America states in the New Balance Responsible Shopper company information page that around one quarter of NB's shoes are made in the United States[2]. New Balance owns five factories in the United States: two in Massachusetts (Boston and Lawrence), and three in Maine (Norridgewock, Skowhegan, and Norway). [3] In 1994, New Balance manufactured 70% of its shoes in the United States.[4]

Is that REALLY the most recent numbers they could find? Or just the most recent ones that look favorable to investors?
