For all your talk about forming a better "third party", you forget a fundamental truth about government: government is kindergarten morality applied to a society. The only power a government has is the power to say to individuals subject to it, "Do what you're told or we'll kick your fucking ass."

I'm just grateful that Microsoft isn't deciding the fate of HTML. Mozilla, at least, is a FOSS outfit. Google is a big enough corporation to counterbalance Apple, and Google hasn't proven inimical to FOSS yet. Apple hasn't been much for embracing/extending/extinguishing open standards, and Opera is too small and too European to do any real harm.

Personally, I think Square started its decline after Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was such a bomb at the box office that Hironobu Sakaguchi was made the fall guy and forced out of the company.
