Call me cynical but... I wonder if any of the SJW mob calling for Stallman’s life’s work to be erased are employed by or have interests in large tech companies that are currently forced to open-source what would otherwise be bajillion-dollar closed-source projects because those projects incorporate GPL code?
RMS seems to have regarded time spent travelling to a residence as wasted time that could otherwise be spent working, so he slept on a mattress in his office at MIT, which was his legal address.
According to his accuser the presence of the mattress is evidence that rms is a sexual predator.
He literally used to have a mattress on the floor of his office. He kept the door to his office open, to proudly showcase that mattress and all the implications that went with it.
Oh noes, the implications. Just thinking about it causes me trauma.
Or he’s a nerd with no social skills who literally lives in his office. Get fucked.
I look forward to downloading them via Bittorrent sometime in the near future, because like those fuckers are ever getting any of my money ever again.
Facebook's and Google's business model is advertising. If you look for something, they will show you relevant ads. And they can show you ads, because you use their platform. Gathering large amounts of data about people is an added benefit, through with they can target their audience a bit better.
Wrong way round. Facebook and Google's business model is gathering large amounts of data about people, and making money from that somehow. Up until now the "somehow" has been advertising.
The truly chilling bit is that once you have enough data about people, it's far easier to optimise the audience for the ads than the ads for the audience. Turn your audience into gullible extremists on a hair trigger, and they'll click whatever you show them.
Not entirely unreasonable criticisms, which is why lots of people (myself included) think that the future of cryptocurrency probably won't involve Bitcoin.
Well last week I paid for my groceries with crypto using a crypto debit card, which made me happy because fuck banks.
*golf clap*
I am not interested in ANY social network that runs on an advertising model.
God, Dave Morin if you're reading this, spend some of your Facebook zillions on buying back Path's IP and relaunch it.
it is a lot easier to just stop communicating with people who don't use iMessage
yes but you all had to suffer beneath the boot of SOCIALISM.
I paid for groceries with crypto the other day. Felt a lot like currency to me.
And where you might wake up any morning to find your wallet and entire bank account just vanished overnight, and you have no way of tracing the crime.
That could also happen if I kept my valuables in a safety deposit box. The bank could get robbed and I could lose everything.
If you're watching the graphs and noting what people are offering as buy and sell prices, you can get a sense of what's going to happen over the next few minutes and hours. I'm just "little people" but last night I could feel the BTC/ETC wave was cresting and I bailed. This morning I could feel the dip was bottoming out and I got back in. So far so good.
Waste not, get your budget cut next year.
