Why Time Flies By As You Get Older 252

Ant notes a piece up on WBUR Boston addressing theories to explain the universal human experience that time seems to pass faster as you get older. Here's the 9-minute audio (MP3). Several explanations are tried out: that brains lay down more information for novel experiences; that the "clock" for nerve impulses in aging brains runs slower; and that each interval of time represents a diminishing fraction of life as we age.

The reality is that the Snow Leopard version of Boot Camp worked just fine with Windows 7 before this update, both 32 and 64 bit. As you may know, the OS X disc functions as a driver disc, after you boot into Windows. Prior this update to Boot Camp, the newest drivers were for Windows Vista. Only one driver needed a little assist to get working in Win7; I had to run one of the sound drivers in Vista compatibility mode to get it working. As for "Running win 7 AND OSX at the same time is stupid," you fail to give any real arguments as to why that's the case. Mac OS X and Windows 7 each do some things better than the other. Saying one is universally better than the other just shows that you don't know what you're talking about.

Obviously you haven't played any of the numerous Wii games that are really good. Are there also a bunch of Wii games that are gimmicky and simple? Yes. But don't assume that just because there are some crappy games for a console, that said console is successful only because of a unique feature. No console does as well as the Wii has without GOOD games. I own a PS3, a top-of-the-line gaming PC, AND a Wii, so this isn't just some Nintendo fan boy sounding off. I'm pretty picky about what games I buy, and the Wii has a bunch that are lots of fun, and have actual replay value.

It's both hilarious and ignorant for you to think that Afghanistan has problems only because the US went to war there in retaliation for 9/11. Afghanistan has one of the longest histories of conflict in the world, and for you to imply that the problems there didn't exist before American troops arrived is ridiculous.

LOL. In case you've been sleeping under a rock in a different galaxy, here's a quick update: A) Slashdot is about, among other things, technology. B) Apple is a technology company. C) There ARE people who read this site, who are interested in the next iPhone. How dare they post an item about technology on Slashdot. It's completely insane!

Really? You're bitching that someone posted tech rumors and/or news to a tech website? I guess I'm not really surprised; Slashdotters always have to cry about something, even when all that's occurred is someone posting an article about the next iPhone, which is, believe it or not, a piece of technology. Next thing you know, people are going to start posting recipes to cooking websites!

I've been working in IT since I was a teenager, and I'm currently in the second term of my return to college. I have a BS in comp. sci. and I'm undecided at the moment as to what my end goal is this time around. I've been considering aiming for management in my field, and this thread has truly given me some direction, and some real things to hold true to if I ever achieve the status of "manager." Thanks to all for the great discussion.
