Comment On the contrary (Score 0) 222

Facebook going public has freed the money of those who have invested in it before it went public. Now these people will have to invest that money again and these imaginary dollars will probably go to high-tech startups again. And I don't believe Silicon Valley is about science, but rather about technologies that make our lives easier. Advanced science has always been and will be done at universities or very large companies.

Either you keep on changing and moving forward or you drown in the competition. At least they are trying to do something to differentiate themselves. Your response is typical for a person who thinks that everything is good enough already and there is no need for change.

And it was just that: a web-comic turned into a movie. It felt like a lot jokes from the comic strips trying to be linked together by a poor story. I'm a PhD student myself, but I hardly ever found it funny, just lots of overused cliches about students. I don't think a lot of people in the audience liked it too. It's not THAT bad, but it's not something I'd ever watch again or recommend.

I'm using my laptop as a media centre in my lounge and I have a USB audio interface connected to it. The interface does not have Linux drivers. Otherwise I would have installed some Linux distribution long time ago.
