NotesSensei writes: "In an Article in "The Times of India, Pune" page 10, Saturday September 23, 2006 Akshaya Mukul/TNN reports, that Indian officials aim to create a 10$ (yes ten dollars) laptop. From the article: "Officials of the ministries of HRD and Telecom and experts from IITs and the Indian Institute of Science met last week to devise a roadmap for the indigenious laptop. One of the officials who attenden the meeting siad, 'In the meeting, no one had any doubt about the fesibility of the project. Everyone is enthusiastic and wants a quick roll out. But we have given ourseves three years before the first $10 laptop comes out.' ... Institutions like IITs/IISc have been identified as anchor instritutions for the project and entrusted with the task of research and development of cheap laptops."

Submission + - Teaching Primary School Students programming?

NotesSensei writes: Recently I was teasing the teacher who runs the computer club in my sons' primary school: "You teach the kids only how to use software but not how to make software". Today I got an email: "OK, you're in: teach them programming". Now I wonder what language should I pick? My first lesson will be the board game c-jump, but after that? The contestants are: Or should it be something completly different? We are looking at primary 3-5 (that's 10-13 in this part of the world). Where can I find inspiration for the curriculum?
