Indeed, even the Romans seemed somewhat squeamish with the concept of hell (or the concept that one could return from hell). The Gospel of Nicodemus was banned by the Council of Nicea on the grounds that it must be a forgery by early Christians to convert Pagans. It is full of references to hell. In it Jesus goes to hell and rescues various saints and Biblical characters deemed worthy to escape. There also seem to be allusions to the fact that He may one day return to rescue everyone there.

Back in my Sunday school days (before I became of age to make such decisions) it was explained that proof of hell was Luke 16:24 -

And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

I think the writing was before the Council of Nicea but still seems very much like the Star Trek God.

Probably, capsaicin is an organic molecule. It would tend to be more soluble in organic solvents such as the oils in fat than water. Water is inorganic so capsaicin is less soluble in it. Ethanol is an organic solvent and dissolves many organic compounds. I would think beer would work better than milk or yogurt.

It would depend on how the issue was framed. The experiment was designed to show where moral and ethical issues overcome financial incentive in others on an individual basis but just as in any statistical analysis the wording (or in the case the conditions of the experiment)has or should, if properly conducted, a tremendous influence on the outcome. The question is was the original experiment moral and ethical.
