Physically-Challenged Gamer Hacks Together Custom PS3 Controller 50

Destructoid has a neat post about a gamer whose condition prevents him from using a standard video game controller. With the help of a company called GimpGear, which markets devices for people with limited mobility, he designed and built a custom input device that makes use of fingers, toes, and even sips or puffs of air to control his favorite games. Pictures and a video of the setup are both available in the post.

Frozen Mice Cloned 272

m0rphin3 writes "Japanese scientists have cloned mice whose bodies were frozen for as long as 16 years and said on Monday it may be possible to use the technique to resurrect mammoths and other extinct species. Maths gives you tools in abstraction. When you apply maths to physical problems you learn how to abstract the problem out, generalise it.
Using calculus and driving is a poor example. What maths provides you is an understanding and perspective of why music travels in the air, water flows etc. Eventually your understanding makes you see patterns in the abstractions, which can be applied to many fields, ranging from creating music instruments, coding, baking a better pie.

Submission + - Warp drive revisited (discovery.com)

beta21 writes: Still pie in the sky theoretical model the Warp drive engine is revisited.

Has a lot of similarities to the Alcubierre drive. From the first paragraph:

It is possible to travel faster than light. You just wouldn't travel faster than light.

Needless to say this is highly improbable in our lifetimes.
