I was thinking the same thing. Consider this quote from Nadella: "We have to get past what we describe as 'productivity paranoia,' because all of the data we have that shows that 80% plus of the individual people feel they're very productive -- except their management thinks that they're not productive."
I don't understand what all this talk about "feelings" is. Most companies worth their salt should have actual hard data metrics to gauge whether output of work is more or less than what it was before. It is the same or more, then screw the "feelings" of these mangers, it means way too little to care about, and probably points to the fact that they are redundant!
And I say all of this as a supervisor in the VFX industry who loves WFH, and fully supports the right for anyone else to do the same.
