Submission + - Remote Island Adopts Dothraki Language (badatlanguage.com)

An anonymous reader writes: The tiny island of Tristan da Cunha is officially the most remote inhabited archipelago in the world with few connections to the outside and access only by sea when the notoriously stormy south atlantic co-operates which is not often. Entertainment options are limited and LARPing in Game of Thrones style has become massively popular, so much so that the islanders have declared Dothraki to be an official language, alongside English.

I downloaded the first few episodes of firefly back in the day after seeing it mentioned here many times and not finding it on any tv channel I had access to.. I liked the show and proceeded to buy the entire series and the movie on dvd from amazon. I will likely do the same with GoT eventually..

In other Game of Thrones news the residents of Tristan da Cunha (a very remote island in the south atlantic) have apparently adopted Dothraki as an official language and are big into GoT LARPing.. they also don't have HBO.

I guess the time to stage a coup without looking like total traitors would be a couple of months after this blows over.

Maybe that's the plan all along.. someone (or some group) somewhere is pushing young kim to make a fool of himself and his country so that he can then be deposed and NK can finally be rid of the old dynasty..

Or maybe they are all just nuts.

Yes the open uni is great and they provide much more support and interaction with tutors but it is also considerably more expensive than london uni if you are outside the uk.

London Uni has actually been offering distance learning degrees for far longer than the open uni (or any other) but you are more or less on your own after they send you the course notes and reading lists although some courses/colleges in london uni also offer summer schools and such things, for an additional fee.

You can do a BSc entirely by distance learning through London Uni (apart from the exams which you sit at a British Council office anywhere in the world) and it is also relatively cheap.

They have many other undergrad & postgrad courses too.
