'One time when I interviewed with Microsoft in Redmond I couldn't get over this sense of corporate entitlement -- it was one of the biggest turn-offs that I had during my interviewing day there,' says Strom. Which is why MS with their vast amount of resource (human and money) couldn't produce something like the iPhone. They have a myopic culture that doesn't allow for a person that doesn't want to wear a suit and tie to work.

I admin our Exchange servers (2003) w/o issue. RBL's are integrated, SPF is setup and working. AV is scanning everything in/out. Never been hacked, never have experienced any downtime. Host over 1200 accounts. Integrated Calenders, Public Folders, vendor and client contact lists etc... You find me an integrated FOSS solution that doesn't absolutely eat up my precious time doing everything that Exchange does for our organization (I gave Zimbra a whirl and wasn't impressed. Maybe it has improved by now...).

I know he's your dad, but he's cheap. What needs to happen here is 'expectation' management. The real issues are SUPPORT for that DOS based application. What happens when the data gets hosed and even the backup's are corrupted? You are doing him no favors. Set his expectation now while you still have a chance. Machines running for 15 years are simply by the grace of some non existent higher power.

I think with Netflix wanting to offer on demand only service tiers, well they need to 'create' some demand.
As in: You will get the streaming because we demand additional $$.

Comment Ah, the ever accurate personality test... (Score 0) 581

I worked retail for 3 years at a small chain electronics store (had 14 outlets). I went in for my interview (went fine) did the personality test (it said to not hire me). The manager hired me and ignored the test. The result? Out of 300+ sales associates chainwide I was in the top 5 90% + of the time. I had a good work history there, left on good terms and helped a lot of people with making the right purchase.
