I have to agree, obviously the end result is pretty crappy MIDI style background music, but overall I'm pretty impressed that it's able to generate something that actually does follow the flow of the song programatically.

On the other hand, are they actually selling this thing? It might be fun to play around with, but I don't see it working as a commercial product.

How do you know that all those infected windows systems are infected due to Windows and not because of some user's fault, some app's fault... etc.?

The latter scenario should be far more likely on windows because the userbase of windows is far broader and encompasses a much larger population of clueless users than the Linux world.

In just a few days, some of us will be making the trek to this year's Blizzcon event in Anaheim, CA. In addition to the interesting announcements, sneak peeks, and other distractions, we will be sitting down with several Blizzard employees to answer any questions you might have. So far we have scheduled some time with Chris Sigaty, lead producer on StarCraft II; Jeffrey Kaplan (aka Tigole), game director for World of Warcraft; Leonard Boyarsky, lead world designer on Diablo III; and Paul Sams, Blizzard COO. Please address your questions to one (or several) of these candidates and try to keep them civil and on topic. Questions about Diablo III's art style will most likely be omitted since we have limited time and that dead horse has already been beaten into submission. The usual Slashdot interview rules apply, but beyond that, the sky is the limit.

Gov't Database Errors Leading To Unconstitutional Searches? 272

Wired is running a story about a case the Supreme Court will be hearing on Tuesday that relates to searches based on erroneous information in government databases. In the case of Herring vs. US 07-513, the defendant was followed and pulled over based on a records indicating he had a warrant out for his arrest. Upon further review, the local county clerk found the records were in error, and the warrant notification should have been removed months prior. Unfortunately for Herring, he had already been arrested and his car searched. Police found a small amount of drugs and a firearm, for which Herring was subsequently prosecuted. Several friend-of-the-court briefs have been filed to argue this case, some calling for "an accuracy obligation on law enforcement agents [PDF] who rely on criminal justice information systems," and others defending such searches as good-faith exceptions [PDF].

I have heard of censorship of sites by China's great firewall from inside China, but when I go to the URL:

http://news.sohu.com/s2008/tibet/

And click on the first link: http://news.sohu.com/20080327/n255932131.shtml it loads for a while, and then BAM, connection reset. This occurs for several other articles about Tibet.
