Journal Journal: Surprising ... i think

Well, today was father's day. Got to spend a bunch of quality time with my dad and grandfather. Quite a few members of our family came over and we had a little party. Hamburgers, Hot dogs, Swimming, etc. It was rather fun. I showed my uncle the video i digitized for his website. He really seemed to like it. He was commenting about how he's been using his website as a big selling point for his references and what not.

I also had to work this morning (kind of going backwards in time, but whatever). Yesterday, my parents needed to pick up a few things at Oshman's so we stopped by about 30 minutes before closing. While i was there, i got a page over the intercom to come to the front. Kind of strange i thought, since i wasn't on the clock. It turned out that one of the new employees that i hadn't even met yet needed someone to cover for her for a couple hours. So, being the go-getter that i am, i tell her that i'll cover, and she seemed quite thankful. This morning at work wasnt' realy too exciting. Everyone is getting ready for the Auditor *bleh* our store has failed it's last 2 audits from little things. We get all the paperwork right... but small things like sensor tags... or equipment isnt always up to par.

After work and the party, i made my way to Laserquest for our weekly practice. I had warned the rest of my Team that they needed to bring their hotel/transportation money today, or else i'd be forced to chase them with a large blunt object (see Bat). As it turned out only one player didnt have the money on her, she said that she'd get it to me in the next few days. I'm quite impressed over this not having to hunt people down for money. Our team is starting to work together. After the practice today we've gotten a couple comments about how we're starting to play off of one another, using each others strengths, and backing up eachother's weaknesses. It's really cool. I am excited about going out to Regionals this weekend. It's rather amazing all the stuff that's been going on in my life lately.

That's about it for now.

Journal Journal: Time Well Spent

Wow...
What a week just rolled by. Loreanne and Natalie came out to visit for 5 days. I tried to give them a taste of the things that I do, and well, i pretty much ran out of ideas for things to go out and do. It's alright though, we had an awesome time.
Some Highlights:
6-Flags
Well... While a good idea in theory, we probably should have gone earlier. We happened to choose the day that a bunch of nasty thunderstorms would rampage all across the metroplex. We were able, however, to take in the majority of the main attractions. The Giant, Titan, Mr. Freeze, Batman, etc etc. Just as we were about to get onto the shockwave, the weather decided not to cooperate any more, and ominous evil looking clouds rolled through. We figure we'll just kind of wait it out... but someone must have had other ideas. It started raining cats and dogs. Huge rain drops coming down with the quickness. So we decide to cut our losses and just head home.

Bowling
Probably the most expensive 2 games of bowling i've ever played, but damn was it fun! We went to main event and missed the 1/2 price night by one day. Oh well, The lanes were really nice, and My brother joined us on our adventure. It was kind of neat, the lanes have some kind of speed sensing equipment that will display how fast you can throw the bowling ball (right before it hits the pins i'm assuming). We all had a great time, David decided to locate a 6lb ball for some odd reason. That thing was quite funny to chuck down the lane. The finger holes were WAY too small for anyones fingers, but just kind of underhand throw it and maybe put some spin on it. I ended up getting a strike with that ball *w00*. Also while we were at Main Event David and I showed the ladies how to play DDR. We only played one game each (damn expensive arcade games) David is pretty good at the PSX version of the game, but really hadnt ever played the arcade version. I'm alright at the arcade... but not the best. It was pretty fun. I dunno if the girls liked it, but It's something that I do out here.

LaserTag
We went out to play lasertag on Friday night. I figured that's when the most people would be playing. We got into a game of 10 or so people (including us). It was fun, I'm not sure if Natalie liked the game or not... i kept bumping into her, and she was all by herself. Small story, At the beginning of the game, there was a set of members that I had never seen before. They were all talkin smack to each other about who was going to win and lose. They said amongst themselves someone was goign to get first. And to myself i was thinking "HAH... you're kidding right" but i let my skills do the talking. I ended up getting 1st with ~700 points. Loreanne got 7th, and i cant recall what natalie got.

Movies
Taking full advantage of David's position at the theater, we went and saw 2 movies. We watched 2 Fast 2 Furious, and Hollywood Homicide. I had seen 2fast before, but didnt mind seeing it again. It's an alright movie, and i totally dont complain if i'm seeing it for free. Hollywood Homicide was alright. As we were walking out someone said something about Lethal Weapon... It didnt really remind me of that movie, but i could see if any sequels come out, that it would probably steer towards that direction. Harrison Ford is an amazing actor. Diggin the free popcorn and drinks too.

Southwest
Natalie has been telling me for the longest time that she wants to be a flight attendant for an airline. My father being a pilot for southwest, he has certian connections in that field. So, one day, he set up a tour for us at the southwest headquarters. It was really cool, we walked through various halls looking at all the "Family" photos, and my dad took us to eat at the main cafeteria. After lunch, we drove over to the airport to take a look at where the in-flight operations training center is. This place trains the provisioners (people who stock the drinks), and the flight attendants. I really had no idea all the training that they must go through. It turned out that the person that gave us the tour was one of the highest ranking people for that area. It was really quite nice, She showed us around, and was very informative. Kind of silly i'm not sure how she got this idea, but she kept calling Natalie my dad's daughter. ;) Oh well. We didnt want to make her feel foolish.

We did a LOT of stuff, even more than what i've described above. It kind of seemed like i was trying to just fill up all avalible time with things that i tend to do. We went Geocaching, and took a stop by Dave and Busters while waiting for a movie. We hit the hot tub/pool a few times. It really seemed like the time flew by. I commented when i dropped the girls off at the airport about how it had seemed like i had just picked them up. A side note, I drove my Dad's car during this trip... and From when i picked them up, to when i dropped them off totaled 300+ miles. (wow!) We went out to eat at some of the local 'odd' resturants that they dont have in SanFrancisco. So much stuff, i'm sure i'm leaving like a day and a half out.

It really was an amazing time. We did so much. Y'all (we'all ;) need to come back out now... y'hear?

Journal Journal: Shenanigans^2

Well...
It's been a short while since i've written in my journal, and by popular request, I shall put up an entry (fine natalie... but if i update mine, you need to update yours :).

So... Lots of things have happened since my last update.

1) Edgefest:
Wow... That was a lot of fun... Like 9 decent bands all preforming at one venue. Good Charlotte put on an awesome show. and Maroon 5 put on an alright show... they closed with "Closer" by NiN, which was badass. I got a REALLY bad sunburn, because my stupid self didnt put any sunscreen on. It's pretty much faded away to a red-ish tan... but when i got it, i looked like a lobster. Strangely the insides of my knees got burnt. *shrug* go figure.

2) Work:
I've been putting more hours in for work lately... gotta get caught back up with finances from lack of working during the school year. They've been hiring and firing people like crazy at work. People just dont seem to care about their jobs. I've been at this place for over a year now (wow), and i havent called in sick ONCE. Other people just dont show up and dont call in to let us know what is going on. My manager gives them the benefit of the doubt for one time. If it happens again, they're gone. This has happened to pretty much all the original staff. I've got some senority now!

3) Movies:
Since my brother is working at the theater again, i get the hookup on free movie passes. I've seen X2, and Matrix Reloaded this way (twice). Gotta love free movies. David also got a movie poster from work. I researched it online, and found that it cost like $75! wow... and the theater just gave it to him.

4) Trips/Vacations:
Loreanne and Natalie are coming out next month, and i'm REALLY excited. Although i'm short on ideas for things for us to do... i'm sure i'll get it all figured out by the time they get here... and then those plans will blow up, and we'll end up doing something completely different. Gotta love murphy's law. Also, i'm planning a trip to go out to maryland to see Sawah... I've promised her that i'd get out there... so i'm gonna do it this summer, not quite sure exactly when, but i'm doing it.

5) LaserTag:
The team is coming together quite nicely. I didnt have to threaten anyone's kneecaps to get their registration money in on time. Although not everyone has the same drive for the game that i do. I've been to every practice.... Last week... only 4 ppl (including me) showed up... and the rest of the team (6 ppl) didnt even call to say "sorry, we cant show up". So we waited for a while and just left. Oh well. Next team meeting we're going to figure out if we want to win, or just play to have fun... I personally want to win, but i cant pull this team through all by myself.

That's about it for recent things. I should be updating more often in the near future.

That's about it. Gotta finish studying for my final tonight.

Journal Journal: Double Deuce!

Now... with DOUBLE DEUCE Action!
That's right ladies and gentlemen... i've reached the big 22!

I remember last year... getting quite wasted (as any red-blooded fresh 21 year old should) in colorado. Wow... what a party... I still have the Cigar that my friend Nate bought me. Haven't really had a reason to smoke it... maybe i'll smoke it when the colorado springs NAC team comes out for nationals. This year i took a more subtle approach to partying. Namely, i worked today. Probably not the wisest idea, but it's all good. A little bit of work never hurt anyone. Although i really wanted to get out before freakin 10'oclock. The managers were just being super anal about the cleanliness of the store.

Marissa got me a devil duck yesterday. It's quite cool... We were walking through Kroger's and i was squeeking it as i was walking. The clerk noticed it and commented about how cute the devil duck was. I just smiled.

I'm sure there's a bunch more that is going on... Finals... etc etc. I'm quite tired now, so i'll write more tomorrow (hopefully).

Journal Journal: Journaltastic!

So... i havent really updated my journal lately.

Nothing too amazingly interesting has happened lately. I got the new Blue Man Group Album "The Complex". It's REALLY good... i've been listening to it a lot.

Work:
Been working as much as possible over the weekends. Nothing really new. I got to stand outside for a few hours watching our sidewalk sale. Got a burn... which is turning into a tan. Other than that work is pretty ho-hum. I'm going to increase my work hours over the summer... gotta get a small ammount saved up.

School:
School has been... going. I'm not too sure about my Math class. I really dont care much for Trig. I would not do it on a plane... i would not do it on a train. Finals are coming up. My History teacher said "You all can see the light at the end of the tunnel... Just hope it's not a train." Quite funny. I'm prepared for all of my finals except for Trig. English we have an essay to turn in. Shouldnt be too difficult.

LQ:
NAC stuff is coming up... I'm somewhat grumpy at my team, 4 of them skipped out on practice last sunday... so we couldnt run the team-building and communication games that i had wanted. Oh well. A few of us are going to go to NRH's practice... we can run those games then.

So that's about it.

Journal Journal: Busy Busy Bee

Wow... All sorts of things have been going on.

Last Saturday Bekah took me to the Gamma Sigma Sigma Spring Formal. Wow... All sorts of fun. Before the formal some of her sisters went out to the Ft. Worth botanical gardens and took a bunch of pictures. If you ask nicely, i'll show them. So after that we went to the basement of some church, where they had tables and a DJ all set up and pretty. Ate some food, met a BUNCH of people, and danced the night away. I really cant shake my groove thang... but i certianly gave it a try. w00t.

After the formal, Jen gave me a call to see what was up, and i told her i was headed home... and she seemed really interested in seeing me in my Spiffy Blue Suit. So i stop by Matt's house on my way home and model my suit... i got applause for my tie. *yay tie*

That sunday, we had our first Team Practice for NAC. LaserQuest cuts us a break for practice games. $2 Games. Although they are 8 minute games... But whatever, we get to practice for cheaper. The team dynamic is quite chaotic right now. Need to get everyone to start talking and working certian positions. But like clay it can be moulded.

Today... I woke up semi-late, and marissa IM'ed me... said that she was hungry, and wanted to go to Olive Garden. So i tell her that i'll accompany her to the resturant. She heads over, but isnt hungry for soup any more... so we just hang out for about an hour before i ahve to go to class. I've got my evil EVIL evening class at 6 tonight.

Journal Journal: .. Accidental Hookie

Seriously... i REALLY wanted to go to class today. Dont look at me like that. Ok... so i missed both of my classes today. The first one, i missed because of some stupid traffic problem. Marissa and I went to lunch at BD's mongolian BBQ. Left with plenty of time to get home. Did i elect to take the tollroad? No... i chose the access road (saving like a dollar something) but loosing like 30 minutes of time 'cause some goobers dont know how to route traffic through their construction zone. The second class i kind of dozed off before, so.. that one is my bad. But Hookie is bad. Dont Skip your classes!

Other than that, i pretty much just hung out with marissa today. Her mom made steak... it was good.

That's about it...

Journal Journal: DOUGHNUTS AT 2AM?!

You'd think in a bustling burg like Frisco, Tx... you'd be able to easily find doughnuts at 2am? WRONG. First Stop... KrispyKreme. The diety of doughnuts. Nope... they closed at midnight. So i go to Kroger. For some reason i was under the assumption that they were open 24/7. Apparently not, when their automatic door didnt open for me (or maybe my soul wasn't taking part of this trip). Stop 3 was the 7-11 right across the street from Kroger. By this point, i dont really want doughnuts any more... so i get a soft drink and some chips. Why cant i get some doughnuts when i want them?! *argh*

Other than that... pretty much had a lazy day. Got to class late, got out of class early. Had lunch with my mom... We went to Scotty P's... I usually get a hamburger, but i wasnt feeling too hungry... so i just got some fries. We talked about stuff that was going on. The upcoming formal, and lasertag stuff.

The LaserQuest tryouts results finally came out. I was in 1st place by over 1300 points. *yay me*. Captian elections, and team name elections are coming up on sunday. I'm going to run for captian... Due to my previous NAC experience, and what not. And i'm pushing for my Plano Inquisition team name *woot*.

Spent the majority of the evening with Marissa... She invited me over for dinner with her mom and sister. We ate dinner... and marissa and i watched Exorcist. I had never seen it before. very strange movie. Pretty good though, i liked it. Then we watched the last part of the mummy 2... And i had to go home :( *damn curfew*

pressures with school are only growing as of late. Lots of projects, programs, and homework.... Gotta stay on top of things... *grr*

Lastnight was the last night of tryouts. The GM of the center is going to send out an e-mail with the final results. I'm confident i got first place. Next week we're going to elect a team captian, and choose a team name. Should be fun. Scrimmages with NRH should be good training for the team.

Been hanging out with the lasertag people a lot lately... They've introduced me to DDR. That game is crazy fun.

I've got the formal with Bekah coming up next saturday. I'm looking forward to it. From what she tells me last years was a lot of fun.

Other than that, i'm late for class.

Short entry... i've got to be at work at 7am tomorrow. Even my mother who is semi-morning person was like "My gosh that's early!".

Got lots of work this weekend... which is good, keeps me out of trouble. A term paper due in my Gov't class on monday. Have I started? of course not! i'll get to it soon, i sware.

Work was alright today, nothing extremely unusual. Spent the first 3 hours re-stocking/re-aranging the monsterous golfball wall of terror. *grrr*. So... i have to lower one row of shelves... re stock the rows and what not. And just as i'm about done, the Hardlines manager brings out about 4 boxes of new golfballs which arent on the wall... So i get to re-organize by price-point lots of golfballs *bah*.

Yesterday i went and watched The Core with Marissa. Pretty good movie, it was better than i had expected. Armegeddon under the earth... with some cool special effects. Tonight we watched Secretary. A very VERY strange movie where a extreme machochist meets an extreme controll freak, Love seems to follow. It was enjoyable though.

Well... off to bed, i've got to be at work at the CRACK of dawn. *sigh*

Journal Journal: Chrono...

Ah... another lazy day. Well.. kinda. I had to wake up semi-early this morning to bomb a math test. *argh* This stuff is quite confusing. Oh well. I'll ask my dad for help, he'll help straighten things out in my mind.

Spent some time with my grandmother today. She's getting better... I dont feel quite as helpless. It's so wierd how the brain works. She seems to know who we are and stuff... she just gets words mixed up. Like someone went into the "names" filecabinet in her mind and jsut mixed everything up. And went into the "Places" file, and mixed it up. But the names and places files havent been mixed together. Quite strange. But she's getting a lot better, and was moved to a different facility for the time being. Everyone is taking great care of her. My mom spent the night in her hospital room the other night.

Seems that Marissa and I have become movie buddies. We've been watching atleast a movie every night. Lol.. it's quite interesting. We need to find movies that neither of us have seen. Last night we watched The Dinner Game, Ghost Ship, and Four Rooms. I've seen the other two (i highly suggest dinner game, and 4 rooms... EXTREMELY funny). Ghost ship was an extremely predictable horror movie... it had 2 really cool secenes when the smugglers were taking over the ship and killing everyone. Not that i condone that sort of action, but how they presented it was the only interesting part of the movie. Tonight we watched Se7en. I just felt like watching it *shrug*.

That's about it for now.

Journal Journal: All alone in nothinness

Sadness runs rampant right now... My grandmother had a stroke. Apparently it happened in the 'speech' are of her brain... Other than that i'm not really sure what happened. All i can do is go and spend time with her and the rest of my family that's with her. She seems to recognize people, but she cant put the words together to express things. I dunno. I feel so helpless. We sit and talk to her and just try to keep her comfortable. The neurologist said that she'd make a recovery in 2 months... but he didnt say how much would be recovered. *argh*

Other than that, not much is going on. When i heard that it had happened, i took the rest of one of the days off at work to just be with her and the rest of my family. I worked on Sunday... and just couldnt stop thinking about her, and how helpless we all are in this sort of situation.

Had the 2nd night of tryouts sometime recently... Scored First 5 out of 5 games... *w00t*, and am currently leading the scoreboard by 1,600-ish points.

Had an exam in my History class today... Wasnt too terribly difficult. However in my Math class tomorrow we've got another exam... and i NEED to do awesome on it to make up for the last test that i bombed. That's about it for now. Just really REALLY sad.

Journal Journal: W00t... Kinda

Today wasnt as bad as i thought it would be... I totally expected to bomb a math test this morning. As it turns out due to the snow storm (see act of God) we're a day behind on the schedule. So, that means today was review day *yay*. After class got out my teacher was asking if i had work or another class before this one... i said no, i just dont give myself enough time to get to class (i'm usually like 5 minutes late).

Pretty much wasted the rest of the beautiful day. I did however go out and run some errands, and spent some time at Dave & Busters. It was SO nice out... i 'borrowed' my dad's volvo, and was driving around with all the windows down and sunroof open. Blasting the tunes, it was great! Concerning the Loan Check drama... I FINALLY got the check. From what i've been told, the kid that cashed MY check returned the money. And apparently i'm supposed to get some letter from the bank explaining what happend on their end, and state that any interest accrued over the time that i DIDN'T have the check wont count on my account.

Tonight was movie night at school... We watched The Contender. Got some extra credit points from my history class. Apparently my prof is one of the instructors that put on this little movie night, so they offer bonus points for attendance. The movie itself was alright... About a woman that gets nominated for the VicePresidency... and all the trials and tribulations she is forced to go through... how someone wants to destroy her credibility, and digs up some dirt from her college days and airs it out for everyone. They fed us, and gave us drinks... which i totally didnt expect. But props to them.

Marissa came over tonight and we watched The Usual Suspects. I liked this movie, and i hadn't seen it for a while. I always have fun when i hang out with her. Talks of going ice-skating... might do that in the next couple/few weeks... We'll see. That's about it

Yowzah... lots of tests, Conviently all around the same time. *gah*

I had a Programming test today. Wasn't as difficult as i thought that it would be. I missed a couple of items... Something about "Find the error in this code". I really couldnt find a problem. I'm sure when i get my test back the error will be glaring at me in the face. Tomorrow (well... today actually) i've got a Math test. Trig... It shouldnt be too difficult, just a bunch of memorization. Next monday, i've got a fabulous test in my History class... Stuff about the depression and WW2. We dont really have tests in my english class, but i just turned in a paper, so that counts. yay tests!

Other than that, just been hanging out with Matt, Billy, and Jen. Been chillin over at matt's and billy's apartment. Video games, Movies, and Wrestling (watching, not participating). It's cool... Gets me out of the house and time to unwind. They've got a hot-tub too... yay.

*shrug* that's about the extent of my activities as of late. i really cant wait for this summer to come. I plan on changing to more of a full time work schedule, and possibly getting some traveling in. *shrug* who knows though. I am however quite stoked about NAC coming up. Not sure if my team will advance, but it's all good. iNAC has been nixed by me due to the financial obligation that it's asking. $30 for regionals, and $50 for nationals... thanks, but no thanks.
