I'm pretty neurotypical, and I still don't want to socialise with my co-workers. None of them have the same interests as me. If I'm going to hang out with my friends, then its because I share common interests. I'm more than capable of communicating with my co-workers either face to face, via or via email.
I'm sick of being made to commute for hours when VPNs have been a thing for like a couple of decades, just so my sociopathic boss can see that I exist. It's as if he's got a goldfish memory or something. Remote control software to do desktop support has been around for a similar amount of time.
Or - how about this not-so-novel idea used by every other civilised country in the western world - tax payer funded healthcare. Guess what - it's cheaper and has better out comes than the trash system America uses. By every metric, America's healthcare system sucks. Why? Because it's for profit. And it's that simple.
I dunno - there are plenty of tools out there which downloads content as soon as it's available. Sonarr for example.
When you're in your own home, there's nothing to stop you putting a camera above your desk and a microphone near your desk, out of view of the company mandated survellience equipment. Remote clear desk is easily countered.
And you all thought the government was going to be the one to install cameras and viewer screens in people's homes. Bahahahaha
You think they care about bad press? Given the bad press that they have had so far as not shifted the needle one 10th of a millimetre, what makes you think this will?
Their business relies on being able to shift boxes as fast as is humanly possible and that's only doable (at the moment) with actual humans doing the work. If they lay off 10% of their workforce in one go, that will hit their bottom line even if it's just in one of their warehouses as a warning to all the rest. Of course, that might also push the workers to unionise too.
But bad press? Not something that seems to bother them.
IDK - my kids have Chromebooks for their school work.
Oil and gas only cost to you, the consumer, a tiny tiny fraction of what they should cost because of the neo-liberal policies of subsidies. The cost to the tax payer is ENORMOUS. These are some of the most profitable industries in the world, and yet we give them tax money by the truck load.
If we had got rid of the subsidies, more green technologies would have outstripped the fossil fuel industries decades ago.
Definition of irony: Slashdot not letting me post the word N@zi in a story about ad friendly/unfriendliness
Yes but broadcast TV also doesn't feature videos saying that N@zis are good, which is why you have ultra-fine control over the ads instead.
Isn't that what Facebook Messenger/email is for? Isn't that what written policy documents are for? A written record of what the policy is?
It's almost as if the notion of "anyone can be president" or "running the country like a business" is a really bad idea
I have a cron job that did youtube-dl -U every day because of this
Surely by the same argument all browsers that can interpret Javascript would be subject to this ruling too? All youtube-dl is doing is replicating what a browser does.
