Comment Give Bill a break... (Score 5, Interesting) 220

I have always enjoyed Bill Nye. Watching him in his early days on his show and on a local Seattle show "Almost Live". He was witty and funny.

From Wiki: "He studied mechanical engineering at Cornell University (where one of his professors was Carl Sagan) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1977. Nye occasionally returns to Cornell as a professor to guest lecture introductory level astronomy and human ecology classes."

I would think that is sufficient education to be "the Science Guy". Why do we need to tear him down?

That is the most ignorant post I have seen in a long time, I can not believe it got modded up. Comparing thieves to working people...

In most cases a hacker is nothing more than a thief and criminal, the article is correct, they should not be glorified.

That being said, someone like "Timothy McGee" (NCIS), that occasionally needs to hack something to save a life, etc... is the kind of "hacker" that is OK to glorify.

These cut are a step in the right direction, But I would love to see them cut the size in half. I'm an American and do not like what we have been doing in the years since 9/11. That being said there are a lot of countries that rely on the U.S. to be their protectors and I am tired of that also. So many countries can afford to be prosperous because they don't need to spend much on military, let them fund their own military and we can spend our money here, where we need it. All our military is really doing is pissing the rest of the world off anyway.

I posted that, it was an accident posting anonymously. You sure make a well thought out point...smh

Obviously there are "bad" people in all walks of life, including the police, but it is the vast minority. Generally speaking, people that have trouble with the police, have a reason they were involved with them in the first place. You didn't like how they handled your drug arrest?

There are so many thugs, punks, gang members etc. out there, the officers doesn't always have the luxury of assuming whoever they are dealing with is a "good guy", that might get him killed. If you live your life in a matter that doesn't attract police attention, most likely you will have no problem with them and respect them for what they do, you might try it sometime. I get pissed if/when I get a speeding ticket, but I am not really mad at the cop as much as myself.
